don't you mean widescreen 4k?
When term 'k' was introduced, industry went away from 'p'. Where they differ is, 'k' is count of columns, vs 'p' is count of rows. So, 7680x2160 is 8k ultrawide. This is similar to 5k ultrawides from Samsung today, which are still 1440p.

Interesting.... The problem with me is that I have is that I heard a great deal of market speak that made me want to puke.

If they deliver what they have stated at the price, then these will give Ngreedia a Headache as why should a normal gamer buy a $1600 video card when you can get one that might be 10%+ less in performance for 600+ DOLLARS LESS.

Cautiously Optimistic.
My local Microcenter finally has a 4090 in stock. They've been out of stock since minutes after launch. It's a Zotac and they want 1699 for it. So, the AMD would be 700 less. That 700 savings could be set aside to help pay for a new monitor that can run DP2.1. A Zotac, for 1699...

Hopefully needs a lot less power to get those numbers too.

Who bought a launch price 4090?

Hopefully needs a lot less power to get those numbers too.

Who bought a launch price 4090?
A bunch of Discord Bros in the 4090 channel who buy multiple cards so they can thrash them on Port Royal and post screens for the meme reward points. That's who. And one reason why I'm staying away from the 4090 because those cards will just be returned when they get a hold of an FE model.

Was referring to percentages, but i guess we'll find out when reviews go live.

Considering i'm still using an RX 480 AND use linux, it's safe to say it doesn't matter to me personally ...
Same here, I don''t care about RT at all, I'd rather invest in a monitor which can support DP2.1 and the card too...

thanks for the explanation, but that methodology makes no sense, it's clearly a 4k ultra-wide under the hood

tons of examples in the video but minute 7 for example
OK, got it.

My humble perspective: 7900XTX/XT, if claimed figures are true, is an amazing, wipes-the-floor-with-competitor product that actually is NOT a direct competitor of 4090 as:

1) It is quite a bit smaller (300mm2 of 5nm and 37*6 of 6nm, totals at around 522mm2, quite down fro 600mm2 of 4090)
2) Is about 2 times cheaper (the "$1600" 4090 is 2300 Euro here, cough, even that 1.6k price point is BS, it should cost around 1900)
3) Is way cheaper to produce (600mm2 monolith vs 300mm2 + 6 small thingies at N6)
4) is fed by only two 8-pin connectors

Its direct competitors are 4080 16GB, and 4080 12GB (RIP :D)
(This product has literally KILLED one of its two competitors)

So, with all that in mind, it would make sense to present 'vs 4080' angle in the presentation.
Exception there is no 4080 out yet.

Honestly the fact they didn't compare it directly to the 4090 shows you it's beneath it. And the aggressive pricing tells the story of the bad ray tracing performance. Pretty much another Nvidia win across the board this generation. Sorry AMD.
At worst 10% worse performance than a 4090.
That is 37% cheaper
28% less power usage
no special power supply or adapters
no special case requirements
no fire
no shitty nvidia drivers
future proof displayport spec
AV1 support

If you buy a 4090 at this point you're a fool.

No one curious now with the RT score too?

If this is the case where this card can match the 4090 at that price, I just may grab this instead.

If course, pending independent reviews.

I don't even think this is going to beat the 4090 or even intended too, that be down to some thing like the 7950XT \ XTX.

Expect a little less but at $600 cheaper. AIB's is were it's going to be pushed, AMD seems to be targeting 2 parts of the market and giving the AIB's some room to play with.

Nah, that's a stretch. I'd expect 15%+ gap ON AVERAGE.

It is still a disruptive product (that already DOAed 4080 12GB :D :D :D)

I think people are going out buying 4090 after watching the slides, 4090 will remain the gaming king for the forseeable future. Like 3090 vs 3080, there were people who never considered the 3080 10GB despite it being only 15% slower and cost less than half of 3090 :)

I don't see most people buying a card that isn't in stock and costs $1,600. This isn't the pandemic anymore where people are getting government checks and need PC equipment for work. It's the opposite, we are entering a recession and most people who needed PC gear already overspent on that during the pandemic. Hence why PC and PC part sales are down.

The 4090 can remain the gaming king but it's the king john of graphics cards. Maybe the 7900 XTX can be it's robin hood counterpart, assuming it performs as expected.

It'll be interesting to see if AIBs can OC it significantly for the performance crowd, if it indeed has significant headroom with a 3 8 pin design.

According to other benchmarks on this site, the 4090 is capable of 4k native RT and 117 fps in Metro Exodus with RT enabled. Also, I have seen that the 4090 is capable of 4K native 109 fps average in Metro Exodus Enhanced with Ultra settings. I think that at least the Metro slide here is misrepresenting the 4090 by quite a bit. Looks like raster the 7900 XTX will be on par, but still lagging behind quite a bit with RT.

If 300mm2 N5 + 37*6mm2 N6 product (522 total) can match/beat 600mm2 N5 product that is also consuming more power, NV needs to fire its engineers.

4090 is capable of 4k native RT
Yeah. Almost. Faster than consoles! (when they are capped at 30 fps)

It's not like it'd be the first time AMD did that. Evergreen was nearly half the size of fermi.....

bingo
AMD was not ready for a proper unveil but they were forced to unveil it to put their cards on the shopping list for those ready to buy a 4080 because now i bet many of those are willing to wait for a 7900 instead of going out to grab a 4080 in mid november. This is all a dick measuring contest nothing more.

Congrats to AMD. This a slape at Nvidia!! I don't prefer nvidia over amd or the contrary! I prefer performance/stability/Value on my GPU. Don't care about Red, Blue or Green. This is not a Club or a religion.
Unfortunately because of my High End VR i'm stuck with Nvidia and can't go with AMD. AMD need to invest more RD for VR and colaborate with VR companys. Hope Intel can produce even better cards and give competition so we all can have good GPU's priced right!

GPU's in Europe are super expensive because $/€ parity and VAT. So a 4090 is now costing 2300/2400€. Let's see if AMD have some care for European customers, and try to mitigate the price in Europe. If AMD does like NVidia, a 1000$ card will cost about 1500€ and AIB's will cost even more.

Well done AMD, hope you kick Nvidia strong this generation. We all will benefit with that!

We'll see, but most of the tech reviewers have extrapolated benchmark numbers and the 7900 XTX is usually only single digit %s points behind a 4090.

why the fuck is the heat not leaving my case out the port side??? all heat is being dumped in case with this design... oh shit... my poor cpu... fuck... imo heat should leave out the port side and the top... not just forced one way or the other...

Let's hope MCM drivers are as stable as monolithic ones. Guess time will tell.
This isn't a MCM in the graphics sense yet; a dual GCD GPU would be a MCM, but I think given the massive off-chip bandwidth, no application would be able to tell the difference between 2 and 1 GCDs.

So I'm guessing the 3D stacked Infinity Cache models will probably all be the 7x50 variants?
It will be interesting to see just what performance comes from a cache increase alone once those models launch and if they will end up being +$100 or +$200 over the currently announced stuff.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the below 4K results if tested in 5800X TPU testbed:

RTX 4090176.810% faster than 7900XTX
7900XTX 355W160.55% faster than 7900XTX 300W & 1.5X faster than 6950XT & 20% faster than RTX 4080
7900XTX 300W152.8+52.8% performance/W vs 6900XT
RTX 4080133.7
6950XT107
6900XT100
If you think that 5% is too little gain going from 300W to 355W, just consider the below for RTX 4090 (only -5% going from 450W to 330W:
