But CGI does not equal game play. I can believe that some day it could be better but I haven't seen it yet. And definitely agree the hit to frame rate is far outweighed by any visual gain
Nothing equals gameplay but this is a thread about GPUs, you do not buy new GPUs to have better gameplay, you buy them for the graphics, full stop.

What makes you think that the cut-down AD103 chips used for the 4070 Ti Super actually started to be made one year ago, and not before, being retained in warehouses to be released later as a "refresh" series? You keep thinking that Super cards are not part of Nvidia's lineup. They are.

I don't care when they were made, I care when they were released. You couldn't buy a 4070ti super 2 years ago.

But you could have if Nvidia released them right away. They only didn't to make them look better. "Oh, it's not a faulty 4080, but an upgraded 4070 Ti, you see?" Wink-wink.

I'm not buying such bullshit.

How do you know they could? They most have been collecting faulty dies until there was enough stock to release them. Same with KS cpus on intel, XT cpus on amd etc. That's a very common practice.

KS and XT are full chips with a higher clock bin. Golden samples so to speak. Only Nvidia retains different die configurations to be released later as a "refresh". I know they do this because of cards like the 4080 Super. You'd have to be super naive to believe that no fully working AD103 chips made it out of the factory for an entire year. It's all planned in well ahead.

The only exception is AMD's 7900 GRE, except that they never tried to sell it as a refresh, and were clear about it being a cut-down chip at a discount right from the start.

My point is that instead of spending $2-300 every gen like you're used to, you can just spend $700 every 3 gens now. Gaming won't die as a hobby, one just has to be more conscious of their buying choices now.
My point is, I was never used to spend $200-300 every gen, I was already used to spend $200-300 every 2-3 gens ;)
The problem, as I see it, is not that you can't set aside $500-700. It's that, once you have that kind of money, there are far better or more useful things to spend them on. E.g. pre-pandemic, $700 could pay for my vacation.

Point taken.

I definitely agree with this!

Uhm, no it is not. The 5070ti is 30% faster than the 4070ti at 6% lower price. And more vram
You have the delusion that the 70Ti can be found at MSRP, it's insanely hard to find it approaching MSRP in the US, impossible to find it below 150 above EU MSRP (which starts already higher than US MSRP, 880€ PRE-TAX in France for example, found for 1000€ PRE-TAX, sold 1300) in Europe, putting it at the 5080's MSRP, which is dog shit for a 70Ti and that's BEFORE accounting for the missing ROPs lottery...

880 would be the ventus, the other cards will be priced a bit higher
1120 available here

it's not great but in a couple of weeks things will quiet down and people can buy them for the MSRP+taxes in europe
There is no need to make things worst than they already are

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.
5070 ti 30% faster than the 4070ti at 6% lower price
How can you state that with a straight face?
The price part.

Or was it sarcasm? I hope it was sarcasm.

Everyone knows 5070=4090, lol, how could 5070Ti be just 30% faster than 4070Ti?

Vacation or "travel"? (i.e. "misplacing" your travel visa)
