AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Alleged Benchmark Leaks, Underwhelming Performance

I still stand by my previous comment and this is an experiment you by amd. This is a testing card for next gen Xbox and Ps6 since they won the contract for both parties.
Plausible thought, also amd is shifting gears for udna anyway, how about people get the card in their hands first...

Heard a rumor that the chip is part of a multi chip design that AMD couldn’t get it to work correctly.

Don’t honestly know if true or what.

Also, was said that rdn4 is a “bug cleanup” of rdna3 plus improving the rt part (for the victims of Ngreedia marketing team) and rdna5 would be a proper new gpu.

Given the announcement of udna, who knows if we will see rdna5 or udna in 2026.

Either way, my 7900xtx will be good enough for what i play and following steam year end review, looks like lots of people didnt bother playing new games anyways.

You know the drill, everything related to AMD gpus must be trashed and everything from Ngreedia must be praised.

Water is wet and so on… :)

Wasn't this kinda expected? I'm assuming a 9080 should be taking place eventually, high would be their "high-end" and has always been rumored to perform around or a bit better than the 7900xtx, albeit with better RT performance and lower prices.
If the above is true, then this means that this 9070 is one level below and is what should be competing with the likes of the 5070 at an even lower price.

However, if this is their current "flagship" product, then let's hope it can manage 7900xtx performance in raw raster perf and way better RT perf, or that it has an amazing pricing.
There is no 9080 coming

And 9070 is slower than 7900Xtx

Driver immaturity with new architecture is a big part of this disappointing synthetic benchmark score. But it don't stop many jumping to conclusions already in this thread.
By looking spects its mid range Gpu
Nothing else
Just like Amd also told, no high ends coming.

it is what it is

but, but, but, alleged leaks!
Nothing like a slap happy game of forum rumor ball on Christmas Eve. Yeehaa!

Yeah, yeah, I'm procrastinating. I'll shut up and go wrap this ungodly mountain o boxes. :banghead:

Man, I though there would have been more happy AMD users.

Tough crowd.

plus an upscaler that you're not hesitant to turn on and that actually improves render quality, rather than make it look like someone rubbed vaseline on your screen (current FSR)

Well TAA does a good job at that too to be fair.

If it was a TPU story I might feel some way about it...but alleged leaks don't do much for me these days. :(

It looks like it's going to be a 7900GRE with 4070 super RT how would anyone be excited about that unless it's like $399 or less.... We know AMD they will price it stupidly and then it will tank to a sensible price like the majority of what they offer....

Hopefully FSR4 is amazing and only works on it because otherwise good luck AMD.

Happy for what? High end buyers of 7900xt/x cards have nothing to look forward to, neither do 7900 gre owners, owners of 6800/xt gpus get another card at the same price point and performance that wasnt enough to upgrade for the last 2 years. Warmed up leftovers dont get anyone excited.

Highly doubt it will be that cheap, AMD's current margins are terrible, so unless rDNA4 pulls an evergreen and is tiny compared to rDNA3 (ROFL no) it's gonna be $450 at least, probably $500 or $550 to try and wring whatever cash is left in the Team Red camp.

Disappointing without knowing the price?

Then the B580 is also disappointing, 270mmq for low-end performance, not mid range.
We can make reasonable educated guesses at the price, knowing that AMD is looking at 2-3% margins right now, and they are using the same process again this time, that a price significantly below the 7900 GRE is highly unlikely, unless AMD developed a recent allergy to returns on investment.

Maybe AMD users will get a discount on a leather jacket with the purchase of anything that smokes a 7900XTX :D

Just gotta send in the UPC code on the box from the AMD to qualify :D

I kid I kid..

It looks like this is precisely the end goal with these cards, especially considered all we have heard over time. Price will make or break them. Hope it is cheap. They need this Evergreen/Polaris moment. Will suck being with no successor to the XTX? Perhaps for the team red diehards. They have always known that they were a stubborn few left anyway.

But maybe we will propose a truce hehe. No bullying will come their way :nutkick:

Wait are you telling me we took Non Gaming Benchmarks and now know what the Gaming performance will be? It is apparent that regardless what AMD actually does the narrative will decide it's fate. The funny thing is that people that own 7900 chips do not even feel the need to upgrade. There is no Game that these cards struggle with. Even RT is fine with 7900 cards. Of course the automatic spy vs spy response will be applied but people that still have 6700XTs might be interested. The other truth is that DGPU sales are not why Nvidia is making an APU.

We know AMD they will price it stupidly
Does Nvidia ever price anything stupidly ? No ? Just AMD ? I always hear this time and time again about AMD as if they have some obligation to sell their stuff for nothing.

If it's as fast as a 4070 Super then it's going to be in the same price range, it's that simple.

I really hope this is wrong. I was expecting 7900 XTX raster with better RT and power efficiency for a competitive price. Would be a nice upgrade for my gaming dedicated system from its 4 year old 3080.

Hopefully it's the driver dragging down perf, but we'll see.

Polaris wasn't an evergreen moment. Evergreen was both faster and significantly smaller then nvidia's fermi. The RX 480 was 32mm2 larger then the 1060, and slower. That would require a radical departure from rDNA's design, and there's no way rDNA4 is going to be that.

If they had such benefits, there'd be no reason to not reach out and crush nvidia's higher end cards. Maybe we'll see that with uDNA, but rDNA4 is likely just to be a *slight* upgrade over rDNA3, at best, so long as you are not a high end customer.

If it's as fast, it will have asterisk after asterisk.

"It's just as fast as the 4070 super *as long as you dont use RT *with significantly worse frame gen tech", ece.

Try to sell a product with an inferior package for the same price, dont be surprised if it fails. Sorry, I know AMD is the underdog and we have to make excuses for the multi billion dollar corpo, but if they are only competitive in one avenue (gaming with just raster), that wont be enough to justify being a "premium" brand and an equivalent price will be seen as stupid.

I dont know why you were, there was zero indication that the 8800 would be a 7900 xtx. The only source for it being xtx level was internet comments, no leaks, no roadmaps, nothing official indicated that kind of performance.

And after two generations, I wouldnt put any stock in any RT claims AMD makes.

Let me clarify...Price it in a way that nobody but die hard amd fans will buy it then it will tank in price and become an OK product.

Like the 7900XT, 7700XT before it.

The 4080 was priced stupidly and so was the 4080 12G that got turned into the 4070ti but was still priced stupidly both got replaced by better products... The thing is when you own 90% of the market without even trying you can afford stupid pricing.

both got replaced by better products
They're still overpriced.

The thing is when you own 90% of the market without even trying you can afford stupid pricing.
We're OK being fleeced when the mega corporation owns most of the market but if the other lesser corporation has similar pricing now that's just unacceptable.

The only products launch i was a bit excited in 2024 were the 9800X3D, Intel B580 and 5700X3D. Let's see what next year brings to the table.

"Moving the performance needle with the price gauge it's not progress"

I don't think anyone's ok with the current gpu market prices but it's not like for people that want more performance have much of a choice they are just going to have one option this generation if they want somthing actually faster than last generation.... Two i guess if you count buying nothing and hoping in 2-2.5 years things are any better given the level of competition they won't be....

AMD can price products however they want but if they want people to actually buy them they should stop pretending more vram and a 10% price cut is appealing to anyone but 10% of the market.

Amd needs to price in a way that there is no debate what one should buy because even somthing garbage like the 4060ti will still murder AMDs products in sales in its general price range when that's the effort your competitor has to make to come out on top you got major problems.

And if this is the best amd can do then we are all screwed regardless....

I'm happy they've locked up both consoles becuase who knows where their gpu division would be otherwise.

What?! The supposed perf would be that of a 7900XT or 4070 super in terms of RT. $400 for that?! where's the upgrade?!

Of course not, its always AMD's fault for Nvidia pricing and people always want AMD to sell cheap in hopes Nvidia will lower prices.
I'd like to see a 9070XT at $500-550 if it's in the 4070 Super range, but realistically the green team camp is going to crap on AMD no matter the price.

Getting a 33% price cut on a 4070 super like product with 16GB of vram is about the best people should expect in 2025 what will likely happen is a 15% at most

AMD can price products however they want
AMD needs to maintain enough margins so their business is sustainable, what does it matter to you if they have 1, 10 or 100% of the market ?

should stop pretending more vram
No, you should stop pretending Nvidia pairs appropriate amounts of VRAM with their GPUs. VRAM is dirt cheap.

You seem to repeat this a lot, yet I’ve never heard of an Nvidia buyer saying they are waiting for AMD to force Nvidia’s prices down.

Do you believe AMD has pricing power in the GPU market? I don’t.
