AMD Readies 50th Anniversary Special Edition Ryzen 7 2700X

Who in their right mind would buy this? 12nm Glofo garbage, when 7nm TSMC is closing in..

It will probably be a very limited release...

That product still comes up on their site, and it’s cheaper than the normal boxed 2700X. They just don’t have competitive CPU prices at “shopBLT.” However, I bet they appreciate the extra page hits they are going to get now. I never knew this was a place to buy.

Why?

...there are more than enough idiots out there who will throw money at these so called special/limited edition tech products, for no other reason than e-peen bragging rights.
Well Intel sold 50k i7 8086.

Make a 2700FX, 4.0GHz base 4.5GHz turbo :rockout:

probelm for intel is this is not gonna be limited

huehuehuehue

waiting for 9900k to drop to $350, it'd be a steal.

Oooh, you're still sitting on that 5775C I see. Keep playing the waiting game indeed, it won't hurt at all!

I mean this just seems stupid to me honestly, you would be better off waiting 2 more months and getting a much better performing CPU... but eh w.e

Surprised this news piece doesn't have the adjective "greedy" used multiple times.

has just enough juice to drive 1080ti if I push it balls to the wall
9900k would be a nice upgrade, but the price of the cpu and ram (still) is too high for what I intend to do with it. I mean 9900k is the best chip for gaming at this point, but it's a high-end workstation cpu.I duno't wanna have to buy that for a gaming rig.

The source on this is a twitter post from someone referencing a random shop. It doesn't seem likely to happen with the next series due in a couple months.

People also bought i7-8086K's..

Imho there's no way it's called 2700X but has different clocks. Maybe sale price + unique box and sticker? lol

I have 8086K and 2700X. *shrug* Both fine PCs. I wanted a 5775C ...

where you from?

If this was an Intel CPU, this thread already had 2 or 3 pages full of hate towards Intel and how greedy they are!

Hate that's mostly well deserved.

In other AMD news

Wired (Exclusive) - What to Expect From Sony's Next-Gen PlayStation

Wired said:
The CPU is based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and contains eight cores of the company’s new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. The GPU, a custom variant of Radeon’s Navi family, will support ray tracing

Lisa Su even tweeted about it

Lisa Su said:
Super excited to expand our partnership with @Sony on their next-generation @PlayStation console powered by a custom chip with @AMDRyzen Zen2 and @Radeon Navi architecture!

Nice way to get rid of stock.

Really, why even bother with Ryzen 2000. Who in their right mind spends money on 2700X now.

This 2700X will be a blip on the radar that will disappear tomorrow because every ones eyes are on Ryzen 3000.

On the other hand if the made an super binned "best of the best" Ryzen 3000 "50th Anniversary Special Edition" from the get go they would see insane sales and get massive publicity rest of the year.

AMD marketing really know how to make an underwhelming 50th Anniversary release.
I was in Microcenter and 2 guys were talking about this Ryzen 3000. We got to talking and was standing in front of the CPU's in the case.. I was told the exact same thing.
ALL CPU's in that case are not worth buying right now. NOT when the future of CPU's are coming out.

That guy was 'in the business' and said it will also be cheaper in price! "around $100".

We shall soon see.
