AMD Readies Ryzen 5 7600X3D to Rescue its Ryzen 5 AM5 Lineup

In fact, six cores are not enough for high-end gamers, adding 3D Cash to it will undoubtedly increase its price, and players in this part of the budget range redirected by AMD will obviously consider the eight cores more 7800X3D.

They've got a stockpile of these and 7900X3Ds aren't selling. Might as well make them into 7600X3Ds (which ironically - should perform AT LEAST, or faster than, such 7900X3D)

In general they should be quicker than the 7900X3D if you don’t have core parking sorted. The old 7900X3D setup I had awhile back saw a ~15% improvement in averages when I disabled the non vcache ccd for games

If they want to "rescue" AM5, maybe they should stop releasing new AM4 CPUs?

I wonder if the 7600X3D will entice the people on a budget to go for AM5 over 5700X3D.
Someone on a budget will most likely avoid having to buy a new motherboard and ram.

The Budget choice should always be in socket upgrade.

7 out of the top 10 best-selling CPUs on Amazon UK are AM4. there is still plenty of demand for it as people shop on a budget and upgrade from older zen parts as it's still going to be more than enough for AAA games for the next 5 years unless you're running a bleeding-edge GPU. most gamers are running something around a 3060/6600xt level of performance that something like a 14th gen or ryzen 7000 wont improve and with the current price of graphics cards they wont be upgrading for a long time.

I won’t be surprised if they do a 7500X3D next.
I think a 5500X3D was announced on AM4?

Similarly at some point a 9500/9600X3D will appear too. A 9700+9800X3D… and so on!

I’ve said it many times since 9600X/9700X launch.
AMD wants gamers exclusively on X3D line. So they don’t care how the nonX3D are performing.

Keep the “regular” 9500-9700X for entry-mid level computing, have the 12/16 core for productivity and flood the market with X3Ds from top to bottom level prices.

AM4 still has more expansion than any Prom21 AM5 board I've seen.
AMD (and partners) kneecapped their own platform with AM5. Other than PCIeGen5, any ATX AM4 x570 board has drastically more expandability v. common AM5 motherboard models.

It's not about poor countries that are years behind and don't know that Zen 4 is a current product and not a future one.
For example AM4 X3D last I checked was selling nicely in the German market. I wouldn't call Germany a country where new CPUs and platforms are late to arrive. Even in Amazon US AM4 models keep selling. Is US years behind? Are US citizens poor and can only afford AM4?
It's not about rich and poor regions. It's about "Is it good enough for the job I want to do?".
Even in North America the X3D chips AM4 chips sell well. You can't use Germany, think of Ecuador or Burkina Faso. Like Smartphones PCs are a wanted quantity in all societies. So just like how Cuba is ruled by Xbox360 (What a documentary) Networking, our AM3 PCs are still viable in those places as Well as Intel 7th to 9th Gen as I said before. These are not new sales in stores but in the form of donations and barter sales

Check the X670E E Strix from Asus or the Carbon from MSI. If you want flexibility on AM5 you have to pay.

LOL. Nice timing, AMD. What the fck

Rescue AM5... lol. Nobody's drowning

It's all a matter of giving you, the customer, as little as they can for the most money they can - that is by design. X870E does not offer anything over X670E, it only makes USB 4 mandatory which from the looks of it, means 4 lanes necessarily reserved for an ASMedia ASM4242 or something similar. The correct mindset is why does AMD give a flying damn whether you're buying a socket AM4 or AM5 system, as long as you are buying AMD? That's why they rehash old chipsets and old CPUs to the point of being obstinate.

Ryzen 9K flopped in the DIY space, reports of poor sales are everywhere. Gamers want Zen 4 3D over it

Yeah obviously, this is the way Zen works since the 5800X3D.

Yeah but apparently this time it's really up to a veeeery slow start, with it being critically panned by reviews and re-reviews since. Zen 5 is really a server-minded architecture.

On the bright side: Next-gen EPYC-on-AM5, might actually be somewhat impressive (for single-socket workstations and SOHO servers)

9##0X3D is also looking interesting, if only for the rumored 'tweakability' previously locked-down on Zen3D and Zen4 3D.

It's mostly the board partners, the same thing has been happening with Intel chipsets as well. Less PCI-e slots as board makers assume everyone will just put a 4 slot brick of a GPU on their board. Also no 7.1ch audio, optical out, or a POST code display, when most decent boards are $250+ I expect more features than just a ton of M.2 slots and fancy gamer branding on the heatsinks.

Just like the did when they released the Zen 4 chips, continued making new ones for AM4 and selling both, you want AM5, you have a plethora of choices (aside ultra budget CPU's?) you want to remain on AM4, here have a 55/56/57/5800x3d or grab the non-x3D chips for..... chips

Said this before though and will say it again, AMD pushed me into a corner when I would have bought a 5600x3D if it was not an MC exclusive, the only other option was when the 5700x3D came out at £230 which I wasn't willing to pay so plumbed for a 5700x, I have no need to upgrade to AM5 at this moment in time nor will I now buy an AM4 x3D chip as I have spent £100's on AM4 chips since it's inception starting with the Athlon 200g, 1600, 1600AF, 3200g, 5500 and 5700x

<yawn> this is as about as interesting or exciting as the 5500x3D.

Just get the 9800/9900/9950 x3D variants out already..

Looks like AMD unofficially admitted zen 5 launch and performance was a lagbuster. A dissapointment for short.

So zen 4 to the rescue i guess.

They want to have 2 revenue streams in Desktop PC.
AMD's supply of 5nm and 4nm CCDs and monolithics is constrained, so they are also willing to pay for all chips, on all nodes new and old, that they can get.

Im still waiting for R5 5500X3D to rescue my aging R5 1600 :(:(
Holy hell how badly are you struggling with that CPU

9000 is less watts and better performance - don't see what to rescue
The reason Ryzen 9000 sold badly because it was claimed to have 16% better IPC, something like 10-15% better performance in games and all of that was a lie

Yeah that is exactly what is happening.

Wouldn't piss on a 6 core cpu in 2024 if it were on fire. They could give it 256MB cache and I couldn't care less. Just poor bins of the 7900X3D they can't sell. Always moronic they didn't release 6 core v-cache models at same time as 7800X3D.

CUBA is under embargo. And I can use both US and Germany as examples. I am talking about mature markets with people having enough money in their pockets to be able to choose from an iGPU to a 4090. Well, if an 8th gen CPU with it's old bad Intel iGPU can do the job nicely, why go for a new and much more expensive platform? Most people aren't going hysterical because their 2 years old platform scores 10% lower than the latest and greatest. Or simply prefer to throw their money in something else. For those AM4 or older Intel platforms are the way to go. They can find a 7800X3D or a 14900K and a 4090 and they can afford those. They just don't want them. They don't need them. Companies see that they can keep selling older stuff and be profitable doing so, so they keep selling older stuff.

PS AM3 and 7th to 9th gen systems are many years apart.

Its cause of greed.
AMD wants to sell the 8-core 3D cache instead of the cheaper and almost as quick 6 core. Considering how major they messed up RDNA 3 (7600, 7700 XT, 7900 XT) I feel like the same could be said here, priced expensive for profit.
They would rather kill their reputation instead of losing 1000 dollars TBH...
