I get about 64c 65c hotspot in lies of P on my liquid devil 7900 XTX and its only gonna go down even more during the winter, least by 4-5c least due winter temperatures in my room which is usually least about 18-20c

I just plumbed up a 7900XTX Aqua, pic below is in process. I cleaned the cpu block and ran a cleaning flush then filled it up with 9:1 distilled to auto coolant. Crosses fingers that the dual thin 480 rads can handle the heat load.

Pretty weird look. I have the same board, more or less the same ram... and my Typhoons are even located in same place... Even 7900XTX on water......

Average GPU consumption and the related heat down by 48%, CPU consumption down by 18%. Plus the usual benefits of lower temps and less noise.
How do you like them apples? :pimp:

You can tell some one is on water usually by looking at edge temp, hotspot would be harder unless the user put on PTM7950 cos any bad thermalpaste will give really high hotspot temp, cos AMD dies aren't perfectly flat and output lot of wattage which causes pumpout over time, which is why you get good results on day1 but bad results after couple more days weeks or after a month, instead of repasting all the time i suggest trying PTM7950 so you never have to do that again.

I am on kryosheet... I am good for years now, the pump out problem is pretty severe, everyone should understand it. I've used on paste the card for two weeks(before the kryosheet order shipped in, it took a while) and my MX6 was already starting to move out... my max hotspot temps under heavy OC and benchmarks is around 70C(went down from 83C), while the core is about ~45C. The added pad thickness also is a plus here. My loop water temperature is usually around 38-40C during long gaming sessions, I like my PC silent, no need to spin up those fans that much. While playing Starfield I am 44C core and 60C hotspot max for example.

Next thing to add... depending on the waterblock we each have... don't gimp on cooling other parts. I've smeared thermal putty all over the the RAM and VRM sections, especially all gaps in between ram(thermal pads cannot do it, it is very important, you gather more surface using IC side walls) and chokes... it is 500W+ card... it needs every bit, I mean I have put really a lot of it. There are blocks that are skimping on cooling chokes... don't be that guy. You can use thermal pads, but with so many parts you never get those right thickness sized to have the GPU mount pressure right.

Before I had problems OCing my Samsung VRAM... now I am memtest vulkan stable at ~2700MHz, before it struggled on ~2625MHz...

So Kryosheet and PTM7950 are the only good solutions for these cards, don't fool around pasting the card with conventional pastes. The China knockoff PTM7950 are actually not that bad also, they reverse engineered it well this time.

I always find it funny when people claim using MX is fine, even tho its intended to pumpout easily so it covers entire die, downside is it will also pumpout after cooler is pushed on, due heat and cool cycles especially with uneven surfaces like die that is bulging or cooling surface.
my stock paste only lasted 3 months, MX-4 only lasted 1-2 weeks before getting awful, i thought i was finally done after repaste then it got bad again, it was so frustating when after 2e attempt it got worse again, at which point i ordered PTM7950 which originally had my doubts on did not wanna repaste yet, but decided to try it right away, instead of first testing it on my CPU.
Still have to put it on my 5950x but will do this when i remove entire watercooling loop in my case for the CPU and add my CPU to the external watercooling loop.
Currently running a dual Mo-ra3 only for my liquid devil my liquid devil is like this meme.

Well for general stuff MXes are fine... it is just that this particular case is a special cookie.

I am on Liquid metal on my 5950x, pretty much fine there.

Considering the fact, that you said you have average rooms temps around 18-20C during winter... and you even named your PC spaceheater... you are interested into overclocking your system high :D

Im set to get a new unopened saphire 7900xt for a decent deal (700 euros). I have two problems though:

1 - How does it perform vertically? Im using a ft02
2 - I have a feeling its bogus. Seller says there are seals on the box - is that a thing? It was bought from laptopsdirect UK.
  • Is there anyway i could confirm the GPU is legit without opening up the box?

Does it have a return policy? Warranty? If not, then... you should avoid it.

Got my 7800 XT yesterday. First card I ever installed that didn't seem to need my 3d printed sag post. Curious as to what you guys are seeing with UV/OC.

Anyone seen any 7800 XT teardown video's yet? I'm curious to see how this card is tore down and how the thermal pads/paste looks. Not even 1 day old and I'm already getting the itch to throw a PTM7950 sheet on it.

And a reference model! Nice!

How are your temperatures and noise?

I haven't tried any UV, as I've got the Sapphire Pulse which is quite alright at stock, and super quiet with a -10% power target.

It's about what you'd expect from the reference 2 fan design. Not bad, not great. Mind doing a timespy run and report back?

Nice. Here's mine, running bone stock settings on both CPU and GPU:

And here's a +15% power limit increase on the GPU:

For that run I had max slider at 5000, minimum at 3000, voltage at 980mv, memory at 2650. Fan curve pretty aggressive and power at +15%. The undervolt is the trick to getting it to boost higher during the benchmark. I will run it undervolted and mostly stock the rest of it's life. That was just for a few hours of fun.

I'm fine with it at stock, as nothing really changes in games anyway. :) If I ever decide to do something, it'll probably be a -10% power limit, because the card is sooo quiet with that! :ohwell:

I value silence over 2 more FPS 99% of the time.

liquid metal has no pumpout issues heck it's recommended for that reason on delided AMD cpu's PTM7950 may work as well on delided cpu's tho but i think best way to clean up die is chemical reaction with liquid metal i believe, so you may as well use it i guess.

liquid metal has no pumpout issues heck it's recommended for that reason on delided AMD cpu's PTM7950 may work as well on delided cpu's tho but i think best way to clean up die is chemical reaction with liquid metal i believe, so you may as well use it i guess.

You can polish it off using paste... die thinning is also a thing.

I guess i have to look into it if i ever decide to delid, but i probably try liquid metal anyway in such case, but on my gpu i rather avoid it.

For sure... GPU's ain't the best place...

With CPU's we have plenty of experience... but with these new packaging multiple dies etc.. I am not so confident how the glue will act.

I just plumbed up a 7900XTX Aqua, pic below is in process. I cleaned the cpu block and ran a cleaning flush then filled it up with 9:1 distilled to auto coolant. Crosses fingers that the dual thin 480 rads can handle the heat load.

From another thread I ran some 3dmark on the rig, I'm reposting it here. System is stock stock atm but with semi tuned timings on ram, otherwise cruising easy street.

I ran one on my other rig with 7900, tspy and tspy extreme for kicks. It's stock stock btw.

Dual 480 thin rads is not enough you need dual Mo-ra3 with dual D5 pumps to cool a 7900 XTX ⱼₖ
All jokes aside i would seriously recommend PTM7950 if you going to repaste use this, nothing beats it, it will last a lifetime.
