AMD Ryzen 5000 Series Features Three Synchronized Memory Clock Domains

If Ryzen 5000 will work about the same as Ryzen 4000 then you can expect DDR4-4400/IF 2200MHz on pretty much every chip. My ASUS B550/X570 mobos set 2200MHz IF at auto when I pass DDR4-4400 on RAM. Behavior is the same as on Ryzen 3000 with mem at DDR4-3600 and 1800MHz IF. Max on my Ryzen 4650G is 4600 1:1 boot and 4533 1:1 100% stable.

Renoir is monolithic, entirely fabbed on N7FF, and isn't subject to the same IF challenges as Matisse and Vermeer. Namely, the IF links that lie outside the chiplets on the substrate. See slide.

Although I maintain that the I/O die's process should have very little to do with max 1:1 speeds in the [true] desktop processors, being monolithic should still benefit Renoir's absolute memory overclocking (max MT/s on async) if we assume Matisse/Renoir/Vermeer UMC capabilities to be roughly equivalent (5000MT/s+).

Keep buying Matisse to save money, keep buying Renoir for iGPU and DRAM benchmarking/OC (if you can find it), buy Vermeer for best CPU performance.

Distinction there is that you're running 4 single rank sticks, which for most intents and purposes is about equal (in "difficulty" for the IMC to sustain) to 2 dual rank sticks like mine, as they're both 2 ranks per channel and the same density.
There seem to be a few people here are considering four dual rank modules, not sure if anyone ever ended up going for it though.

I've been running 4x16GB Dual Rank 3866mhz G.Skill DIMM's since Threadripper first gen, and haven't had any issues holding strap on each generation (3200, can't remember what strap was on Zen+, and 3733 on Zen2), with timings between 14 and 16.

AMD memory controllers are in general, bloody awesome I've found, unlike Intel where you pop slot 3 & 4 and find your speeds and timings going up a creek. I've also noticed that Zen really likes dual rank DIMM's, giving a nice little performance boost without having to gain it by tightening timings anywhere near as far. The problem is my experience is the fabric and trying to maintain strap.

This all said, I have already ordered a kit of G.Skill 4x32GB 4000mhz sticks, and look forward to seeing what a 5950X will hold in a Aorus Xtreme with that kit. Don't know what I'll do with 128GB, maybe run a ramcache to run Warzone in or something. Even my SCCM test environment only chews 32GB, lol.

This is actually a very fair point which I think is being ignored by most people.
I wasn't expecting to be able to run four single rank DIMMs at 3800MHz 1:1, but it was very simple to make it work.
Just updated to the latest UEFI, so I haven't optimized things quite yet, as the previous release wasn't quite stable at 3800MHz.

The other thing I think people aren't aware of, is that AMD's IMC seems to be happy to run memory at tighter timings than you can on the equivalent Intel CPU.
Sure, there's currently the downside of increased latency, so the tighter timings are kind of needed in a way, but the 5000-series should at least in theory fix all of these minor issues.

Hi. I got it from the RAM in the link. It has the Ryzen 9 5950x CPU and the MSI X570 Godlike Motherboard. However, I could not run a type of 4000mhz. Can you set it up?

Until AMD releases the Rob Hallock mythical AGESA update to enable fclk 2000mhz, the best you can do with this ram is 3733/3800. So set it to that (I was stable at 3800/1900 until latest UEFI dropped me back down to 3733), drop your timings to 18-20-20-38 I believe is stable, then keep an eye for new UEFI from MSI.

I couldn't do it again. I'm a little novice in these things. :) I tried the rams in slots a1-b1. I opened XMP, it happened. However, when 4 slots are inserted, the CPU gives an error. I wonder if I should wait for my new Bios update.

It looks like you've enabled XMP/DOHC, but haven't turned down the speed afterwards. You need to turn it down from 4000 to 3733 after enabling XMP.

Unfortunately it didn't happen again. I tried it with DRAM Calculator with different speeds, it didn't work. If I ask you, I can learn your settings. I guess my CPU, RAM Chipset same as yours.

Considering the DRAM Calculator doesn't currently support those sticks I'm a little dubious. Might I suggest just leaving all the timings and subtimings at their default and just with the speed dropped to 3733 (or even 3600, you can always increase it later), and see if you are stable?

XMP off, 3600Mhz worked stably. Should we wait for my update for 4000Mhz? There is no point in buying them after you cannot use them with full efficiency. :)

You aren't really buying 'ram that runs at this speed', you are buying stick binning (i.e. the best quality ram you can get for overclocking).

You are right though, probably not worth it over a 3600 kit.
