pathetic, it has the same boost as a 2700x according to leaks i have seen, at least the 8086k was a better binned chip
It really isn't that much better binned.
The XOC guys that worked with the 8080k finds it to be a decent 8700k but nothing that special.
Also the 95W TDP also means that on boards that didn't violate the TDP with MCE it really struggles to boost to 5GHz.

In short, on "stock" it doesn't really boost higher than the 8700k and on manual OC you don't care since most 8700k will do 5Ghz all core anyway.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
The 8086k wasn't made for extreme overclocking. It's just binned higher out of the box.

still at least it was different to the part it was based on, as far as i can tell all you get is shafted for a fancy ihs, at least you got guaranteed 5ghz capable chips with the 8086k

It was binned, but because of higher frequencies it would throttle more often. I believe it was Anandtech that tested the chip and concluded if offers a slightly worse gaming experience that the vanilla chip because of all the throttling.
Still, while it didn't work out as well in practice, Intel at least looked like they tried.

At the end of they, these are still collectibles. Technical aspects (that we so love to argue about) are rather irrelevant in the context.

I wont mind if it is free. They are giving away some for free right? RIGHT? Some 8086k was given away free if I remember correctly
Also AMD had an offer to trade those won 8086K's to Threadripper 1950X's.

Yeah, I like it. Besides soon Intel will have to sell all their processors as "Limited Editions". Limited in performance compared to Ryzen 3000... :D

So intel is going to offer a Core i9-9980 or XE Xeon W-3175X for it??? I'd trade it in just to make Intel fork over the revenue... lol. Although, in a year or two they could probably sell the 50 anniversary ed. for a profit.

Should have made a 2701X with 100MHz higher base clock. "It's one more!"

They shouldn't have done anything. But from a company that builds chips, you'd expect a special chip for a special occasion. This is just a special package instead.

I mean, think of anniversary coins. They're still coins and they're still overpriced if you judge them by BOM only. But they are special coins, not ordinary coins in spiffy packages.

But again, we're nitpicking here. You want to honor AMD, you have the chance to do so now. You want to make sure you're getting your money's worth instead, move along.

I'd have maybe bought the CPU as a collectors item if they used a Sanders quote and signature... and maybe had a history book that talks about the companies milestones in the industry through the years.
