AMD Ryzen 7 7700X Price Trimmed to $299

Hasn't reflected in the UK yet, but I'm sure it will by Monday. Psychologically this is an extremely important price point and the only question is why it took AMD so long to suck it up and accept they need to do this. But it still doesn't help the ridiculous motherboard prices.

Are you kidding? It came out 4 months ago. $100 off 4 months later isn't "the fastest discounted product I have ever seen".

The CPU is fine. It can't sell because of the high cost of motherboards and memory, and because all of Intel sucks except for the 13600KF which is directly targeting the 7700X's performance category. Same problem Intel had with the 12th gen launch and why the vast majority are now all DDR4 instead for Intel. AMD is doing a year long transition, they are fine selling massive quantities of Ryzen 5000 in the meantime.

And at least with AM5 you should have new CPU's you can just drop in later and not have to buy new mobo as most of these high priced AM5 motherboards have good VRM's on them to boot.

Wow! Why not $301, though? /s

Old marketing trick to make some thing sound cheaper than it is.

fastest price cut ever recorded. though the mobos are still overpriced.

New chipset and platform is always expensive plus making E models on both B and X chipset can and will confuse a lot of people.

I was looking at micro-atx and itx B650 board but they are about £24 / 29USD more compared to the Asus Prime X670-P WiFi which is still a X chipset.

The ITX I was looking at was MSI MPG B650I EDGE WIFI for about about £241 / 291USD and the ASUS TUF Gaming B650M-Plus WIFI costs about £229 / 276USD while the Asus Prime X670-P WiFi is currently on sale this month for £216,44 / 260,91USD so it's a better deal and a better chipset and I will life with my case and everything else.

$260 for an X670 is still a little on the pricey side but at least it's way more reasonable than a B650 while having better feature set(?) than the lower end boards.

I am personally afraid that people will buy higher spec'd A620 board if manufactures get it right or the AM5 line will die if not there is a reasonable priced X670 board that gives out good feature for a good price not on sale.

Because it would be a shame down the road only seeing 99% second handed A620 chipset boards because no one will buy the B and X models because of the price and the users upgrading or buying into the AM5 second handed will only get the lowest chipset possible.

AMD need to rethink their AM5 because A series is really the ultra low end and B is a good middle way I don't really count the E models of the B650 or X670 chips because they do have they needs for people who know what they need for normal people even like my self a computer man I can buy a middle or high X670E board but will I use all their feature? Short ander NO so I rather get the board I am waiting on now and be happy that I can still run 1xGPU, 3xM.2.'s even only one can be Gen 5 which I don't need anyway and my OS is perfectly on a Gen3 NVME drive so.

Most B650 boards for the middle end needs to be down to about 160-180USD max and ofc ITX might be a little more because they are harder to built and pack with features.

I'm not sure that is correct. AMD does not produce any motherboards nor chips for the boards as far as I know. AIB companies do and they have their contracts with components suppliers. AM5 uses DDR5 ram and price for the chips cannot be blamed on AMD since they do not produce the chips to make DDR5 modules. I think same applies for the motherboards.

Below you have top chipset manufacturers. AMD is not even listed.

Where did you get this data? Intel stopped producing consumer motherboards in 2013. And if you are arguing that Intel is included because of includes server motherboards, then the list is missing big companies like SuperMicro and Inspur.

A 5950x Under $500 is a pretty sweet deal.
And I just found 5600G for $109. I'm so tempted to get it. Sometimes it seems AMD is having a price war with itself.

Dude I'm saying AMD is not producing motherboards. This is not Intel's thread so chillax.

it seems that AMD is having a conflict with itself. If they don't look past on the whole "sell less products at high prices to maintain profit margin", I don't see the reason to even consider their products.

Seems that AMD products are like cryptos, if getting involved, only losing in every way. :( In TPU 1440p average, 13900K number one.

$290 for the Ryzen 7700, set the max settings and come in second place. $580 for the 13900k, uses double the power, to get first place. Who cares. I don't mind being in second place and saving $300. And if you want to be in first place, you just buy the 7800X3D next month. Completely ends Intel's CPU business.
