Not sure why this is changed
Will there be a re-test of cpu regarding the temperature test component?
If not, what would be the best point of reference? Would it be the individual reviews (such as R5 7600 review) or do we use the latest possible review (In this scenario the R7 7800x3D review) for certain cpus temps present?

You are absolutely right. I checked my logs (March 2023 vs late 2022 Test System) and see the temperature difference. Not sure why this is changed
Could be something as simple as the thermal paste crapping out, I guess.

Fantastic review! It was a big part in convincing me to invest in this CPU and the AM5 platform. In an NR200P with a 240mm AIO cooler my 7800X3D stays very cool.

I appreciate the section on emulation, it was a big part of picking this CPU. I've been able to play Wipeout for PS3 at 120FPS at 4K even with my 1080 Ti.
Ratchet and Clank games on RPCS3 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Yuzu also run great on this CPU, even paired with a GPU that is aging.

Which AIO is that, if you don't mind me asking? I have a 280 mm be quiet Silent Loop 2 that made my 7800X3D throttle at about 50 W, which is worse than any air cooler (the AIO works great with every other CPU, just not the X3D for some reason). I'm curious what the difference is between your AIO and mine.

Corsair H100i Elite Capellix 240mm with Noctua Industrial PPC fans in an NR200P case. Under artificial load like Prime95 it does get to ~70°C, but in game it floats around 55°C and never seems to throttle.

The AIO is pulling fresh air in from the bottom (although not optimal with the pump being above the rad).

Quick question did you use the thermal paste that came directly on the block of the Corsair H100i Elite Capellix? or did you remove that and added it on yourself?
I used what ever was on my Corsair H115i Elite Capellix block though it just seemed as though it wasn't enough thermal paste. My temps have improved a tiny bit over my older Corsair AIO that served me well for about 10 years. I do have Arctic Silver 5, but would it be worth the hassle of pulling the block off :D

I think it's well worth it to replace the paste with your Arctic Silver 5. I'm using Noctua NT-H2 and although I've never compared it objectively to the stock paste, I'm sure it's a decent improvement.

I wish people stopped with this "quick question" idiocy.
Produce a wall of text, expect an elaborate reply, but call it quick question. Are you for real?

I'm running a deepcool LS520 and it limiter bashes my clocks all day long never throttled and I don't recall it going over 60 degrees. I don't all core load it (cinebench), just game and stream though.

I'm REALLY sus on your thermal paste, every the crappiest 240+mm aio should be overkill on a 7800X3D.

It's not my thermal paste. I repasted and reseated the AIO multiple times, but any basic air cooler still runs miles around it. It has never happened with any other CPU before, so I really don't know what's going on.

Only other thing I can think of here is the orientation of the block on the cpu itself. I remember reading the LS520's (for example) could have marked difference in cooling depending on the orientation of the block (something to do with potential cavitation from the pump and other aspects.)

If you can, have a play with the orientation of the block.

Have you used any other AIO's on the cpu (quietly wondering if it's a dud or a badly lined up AM4/5 hybrid cooler that doesn't play well on AM5 mounts)

Possibly, although be quiet!'s mounting mechanism doesn't really allow play with the orientation, especially on AMD.

I didn't have the courage and spare money to try another AIO. I just bought a Dark Rock 4 which has been working wonderfully. :)

Fair enough, I would strongly advocate if you foray back in grab a deepcool LS/LT/520/720 you wont regret it. I nailed one for equivalent of 99 usd mid last year.

I have the 5800x3D and I was looking into the 7800x3D but will now look into 7950x3D. But, then again I was upgrading from a i54690k.

Are you doing a lot of productivity, since you're considering a 16-core chip?
