AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D to Start Selling Today

Scalper has it listed at $999 on Amazon already. :/ Hopefully nobody buys that.

Here I was thinking ~$600 was "fair".

3PM GMT+1, confirmed by mindfactory in the tweet above.
You were right. Few minutes ago one of the biggest retail shops sold all of its 9800s under a minute. Didn't get a chance to buy one :/

There were a few German outlets that had them in stock, and a few still show them as "Lagernd" - I wonder if it's just update issue, and when you order it they notify you that unfortunately it's not available?

:P

As of this moment, every Microcenter I checked online has 25+ IN STOCK. I bet scalpers are scooping up everything online. They'll be all over eBay and Amazon 3rd party later today.

Yup you absolutely called it. 100% paper launch no retail outlet in the UK had any stock. They went straight to 'pre-order' as soon as they were listed.
Seems like Scan and Amazon had some but the sold out. Overclockers are saying theirs were held up in customs and Novatech had a similar story.

Managed to get one on newegg without much fuss. Surprising as 7000 X3D were nearly impossible to buy on launch day when I was refreshing pages and attempting to order from multiple sites.

I was able to snag one on Amazon for retail price earlier this morning. The charge is pending and hopefully nothing will cancel it since I got it so early after posting.
But Shortly afterwards the price shot up to $999 and then some additional sellers were posting them for $691.22.
So it looks like these will probably be impacted by scalpers.

But for those out there looking for a reasonably priced 7800X3D, Mine will be posted soon :)

Here in the UK only one retailer had stock, that was overclockers and they only had 30 cpus for the whole of UK. Definitely a paper launch here!

Heh, just got a shipping confirmation from alternate.nl, nice. Got one around the time they launched here in The Netherlands, price went up by €30-€60 in a few hours. So far there's only one shop with some stock remaining. For giggles I'll call/Teams a few people in the industry, I suspect quite a low supply to be honest. I did call a company as I was ordering, they said they had a few dozen and that was that. Wonder how fast they get resupplied... The 5800X3D and 7800X3D have surged in price. No matter what I do, I only lose a few bucks or gain some

I like the packaging is fairly compact, I remember the box my 9900k came in which was ridiculous.
Oh yeah, and repackaging it was a pain. It was a nice little chip when water cooled with some decent OC headroom if you got lucky. Remember when we complained about it's power usage? How times have changed.

The new chips is very impressive, but my 5800x3d has no issues with modern games and my GPU is the limiting factor, and likely will be for at least another 5 years.

That being said if I get into PS3 emulation I may buy one, the zen 5 RCPS3 improvements are quite real.

I am a 7900X3D user. And I usually play scenario games with a 144hz monitor at 3440X1440 resolution. I think it would be illogical for me to switch to 9800X3D. Does anyone have an idea?

i dont think the improvement would be much, since at that resolution would more likely be gpu bound...

Check your nose:

In my point of view. No processor to buy = paperlaunch

I hope everyone will get their processor before christmas. (no offense)

Paper Launch - german language "price search", when you pay that you get a spot there: https://geizhals.at/amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d-100-100001084wof-a3336051.html
Only two offerings - both 0 stock

those sellers i buy from have 0 stock as of now.

I remember those days when the Radeon 6600XT started to sell. that was not easy to get one at that time.

Ahh... the race to be first with a new product so you can run Windows 10 on it. I amuse myself.

I smell a paper launch
No way. 9800X3D was already in stock at some shops in Slovakia and Czechia yesterday. Price varies between 540-570 €.

EDIT: I have confirmation from Slovak e-shop I use often - they yesterday sold 16 out of 16 9800X3D, all they had in stock. They have Polish distributor.

I would not call it paper launch, even if few pieces are already in store. This is the time when demand is the highest so they sell out quickly.
I find it okay that every shop was delivered a few pieces rather than giving most to huge shops and leave others to starve. It's much more fair this way.

It's almost as if they finally realized that by making box narrower they can save up on space and as result - in shipping.

Well it's not like they had empty boxes at mindfactory. If it sold out it sold out.

Just reminds me of some countries when you ordered a car and waited 25 years for it. (no offense)

We don't know if that image was Mindfactory stock, AMD import for the whole Germany, for the whole EU etc...
