got the gear pre-ordered... not super impressed with the performance of the z170 and 6700k - something really weird and glitchy with the way USB3.0 and PCI-e/M2 devices play on my board... at least i think that is what tht is - it causes the rig to bomb along at 100+FPS but then freeze for a split second every now and then. Does it in windows too - randomly the mouse cursor will stop moving and the system will hitch.

its definitely a mobo/device issue as none of my other rigs do that even when under heavy load. Hoping the Ryzen is a smoother experience. Might be the 1080 - not sure. Either way hope shipments go smoothly - seems like alot of demand for these.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
If that was an intel issue, we'd see more than you having the issue. It's more than likely a windows/drivers issue.

I mean, you start a thread on watercooling late last year, prior to that 2012. Why not post a thread here and have us help figure it out??????????.

Now and guys with Intel Broadwell-E want AMD Ryzen 1800X.
This is worse situation for Intel, their customers with strongest and most expensive platform will change Intel for AMD.
That mean they will not buy Intel long time probably. And special negative for them is because customers didn't used on such performance and now when they compare
i7-6850K and i7-5930K with R7 1800X they didn't used on so much performance.
Next 7 months i7 configuration will be in inferior position to AMD.

Imagine 20.000 CPU-Z Benchmark, mine i7-5820K overclocked to 4.2GHz have 12.000

King is dead. When reviews show up you will see Ryzen is stronger than i7-6950X on 3.0GHz.
Damn I want this Ryzen 1800X and later Vega.
1800X - Crosshair 6 - ASUS Vega instead GTX1080???

This should be rewarded by customers, when some IT company present so good products.
AMD replace employers, made plan after Vishera and now we see result of hard work compare to playing with our pockets.
We used that Intel is only one on market and completely forgot that maybe their performance are reachable with one nice generation easy.

If people already have BW-e, seems pretty silly to sell it for the same/negligible increases at stock values. Then you overclock them both, Intel will likely close any gap it has since you can find these over 4GHz and the 6900K already started out a few hundred MHz in the hole.

I should sell my CPU and Mobo before week for 500 and to buy 1800X and investment would be only Crosshair 6 mobo.
Memory could stay same until some better chance and money I prepare for GTX1080Ti or GTX1080 to invest in Vega later.
But now is late. :)
That would be huge jump from 12.000 to 20.000 and nice reward for AMD because he give nice performance improvements, so good that even people from Intel Xtreme X99 upgrade on AMD because improvement is much bigger than Intels 2 new generations.
I could imagine 1800X in Jonsbo on some mATX Strix ROG motherboard... perfect.
Really bad because Pro Duo have only 4GB per chip, customers would like to play with him for 800$.

I'm happy for AMD but I'm little sad because my X99 is now so slower.
Today I order few bottles or e-juice for electronic cigarettes, I will need in these days when
AMD Party start. :) I will vape more than usually probably looking debacle of Intel Broadwell-E and X99. Soon customers will compare only 18 cores Xeon with 1800X.

Its so slower FOR THE MONEY. If you compare apples to apples (core to core, thread to thread), there isn't going to be much difference. I hope you can use all the extra threads! Enjoy your Ryzen. :)

And why do you posts have line breaks in it? I don't see a paragraph, just line breaks for sentences, LOL!

you described something mobo (hardware or hopefully bios) related, yet that makes you leave the entire intel platform?

Well yeah... because my choices were:
1. fiddle around and try to fix it - best case: fix it (most likely by disabling USB / buy a new mobo and have a last gen 4c/8t setup that runs ok; worst case: spend the next 4 months of my life googling and tinkering before giving up in frustration... meanwhile not being able to play even old games like path of exile (which, when you go from 500 fps to 0 fps it's a bit jarring).

or 2. feed the hardware addiction and upgrade to an 8c/16t new platform, where the tinkering is much better, and sell the old 6700K to a friend.

option number 2 seemed the most appealing - especially since ive already spent a bunch of time troubleshooting it with no luck, so the odds of getting it to run well were not good.

I can see, when the troubleshooting isn't looking at the right things, for one to get frustrated and bail...

.. that said, you should start a thread on it and see if the braintrust can help. I mean you are selling this to your friend... why not make more and get all things working... assuming it really isn't borked of course. :)

Why does the memory they claimed to have used rated for DDR4 3200 MHz at CL14, but AIDA shows them running it at 2133 MHz CL15?

Because it ran at 2133MHz, they couldn't get the tests running at the (max) rated speed, perhaps needs a BIOS update.

but... you were already planning to have that 'last gen 4c8t setup', if there was no problem, werent you going to stay or overclock? so the problem 'must' be a single mobo model that could have easily been replaced instead of tinkering for months (it's not acceptable for anything to be freezing past the first day anyway, if you run out of variables to change, you replace the board)

now that reviews are out, if you only wanted games, the skylake may be better particularly with overclocking headroom

well the thing about gaming is if the game is GPU bound (which most of my games are) then I won't really care or notice, i care more about cosistency, smoothness and the ability of the machine to ignore whatever it is windows decides to do in the background while I am gaming (and something ALWAYS wants to update when you game -- its just the karmic law of PC).

The difference between my setup at 4.66Ghz and 4.0Ghz stock in gaming was negligible - so I am assuming that the impact won't be nocieable.

You can slice it anyway you want, however, you bailed on an easy fix to go with an inferior gaming machine. Sorry. :(

I bailed on gaming to do tinkering... Tinkering > Gaming. Also I game at 1440P so I am assuming it wont matter....

If I am wrong I will definitely complain about it :D.
