AMD finalized its recalibrated product pricing of Radeon HD 6800 and Radeon HD 6900 series products in the wake of NVIDIA's launch of the GeForce GTX 560 Ti later today. NVIDIA's new GPU is expected to revive the green giant's competitiveness at a key sub-$300 price-point, which could destabilize AMD's SKUs in the price-proximity. Without many options left, AMD is setting the following new prices (EUR and USD):
  • Radeon HD 6870 1 GB: 189.99€, $219
  • Radeon HD 6950 1 GB: 225.00€, $259
  • Radeon HD 6950 2 GB: 239.99€, $269~289
The prices should be in effect very soon. Prices apart, AMD will also release a new driver that will bring about considerable performance improvements to all Radeon HD 6000 series GPUs.

Need money to get another 6870. :rockout:

:o I hope these prices transfer over to the UK!

Would not mind paying £150 + for 6950 2gb.

I was curious when the price drops were coming, i must admit though i had hoped the 6970 would have been included.

Don't forget to add 20% for vat :(

£180 is still good man, that's how much 6870 costs at the moment

true it is a good deal, I'm just unhappy that the 6970 is not dropping in price along with the rest of the cards as that was the only card that really had my interest right now.

Only €14 ($19 / £12) or so difference between the HD6950 1GB and the HD6950 2GB? Who would buy the 1GB model if that was the case?

It's also interesting to hear about a driver that will improve performance "considerably" on both the HD68xx abd HD69xx series.

Given the similarities between the HD68 series and the HD5xxx series surely owners of the HD5xxx models could expect similar improvements? If they don't then that is very odd.

6950 is really close at same clocks though right?

And if you get reference version :p

Hmm what good timing as well, I get paid friday ;)

Well if the 6950 is unlocked then it performs exactly the same  so i guess i should just look at unlocking a 6950 instead.

I think it could be a good plan :toast: lol

i thought 6950 1 GB could be around $270 just like the last news..

one word : DAMN !! :banghead:

EK has some nice priced water kits available in the UK so i was thinking about getting one of those and a 6970 full cover block, i assume the 6970 blocks fit the 6950 so probably the best choice.

I've been looking at that myself - yeah, I'm pretty sure the 6970 block fits the 6950 as they are essentially identical. Maybe not 1GB models though, or non-ref designs.

Added US prices.

Yeah using a 2GB reference model would be a must but wanting to unlock would mean it's best to use the reference model anyway.

I look forward to the price drops taking effect in the UK as right now a 6950. EK full cover block and EK water kit is around £450 so a fair chunk of change to me

first i was stunned :eek:then i realized it was euro:banghead:

why wouldn't they put the the $$ instead of euro it would be a good deaaaaaaaaaaaaal and kick nvidia in the assssssssssss

the 6850 and 6870 are still overpriced for what they are

Does that also apply for 67xx cards?:D:rolleyes:

i guess new 6950 can't be unlocked

I hope they slash the prices to the 58** series also!
Here a 5870 card is 10% more expensive than a 6870 one!!!! WTF?!:mad::mad::mad:

It's also better, so that's not unreasonable.
