AOC via its Chinese website launched a new monitor that stands in its premium offerings. The AOC AG274QXM packs the latest Mini LED technology, enabling lighting of 576 individual zones, improving contrast and brightness enough so that it features VESA's DisplayHDR 1,000 certification. The 170 Hz IPS panel and WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution is arguably at the best performance/image quality ratio compared to the current-gen graphics cards for the most demanding raytraced games, alongside the 1 ms response time and FreeSync support.

The AOC AG274QXM's panel also offers color coverage at 100 percent sRGB, 99 percent Adobe RGB, 98 percent DCI-P3 and a Delta-E <2 on its 10-bit panel. There are two integrated 5 W loudspeakers with DTS support, and I/O is taken care of by 2x HDMI 2.0, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, a USB 3.0 HUB, and 1x USB-Type C with DisplayPort alternate mode and 65 W power delivery. There is also RGB lighting on the monitor's stand. It isn't currently known whether AOC will launch the AG274QXM monitor to other markets other than the Chinese one.

Finally, finally, finally a FLAT monitor whit premium specs!!!

Umm....wouldn't it make sense to at least mention what resolution it is? Maybe I'm missing it but if it's impressive wouldn't you put it in the article plainly?

WQHD = 2560 x 1440, it's pretty common knowledge at this point, but I'll add it to the article =)

nice a good looking 1440p monitor, 240 Hz would have been a nicer spec but nice to see someone putting mini led backlights in 1440p and not 4k

I glanced at article title quickly and missed it, then read article and obviously missed it, lol. I just reread and see it in both places, my apology:). But I admit I do prefer 2k, 4k, or even the resolution written out as 2560 x 1440...must be the old school in me before acronyms were used as much.

1ms *

*with shitloads of overshoot, or crosstalk and overshoot if its with strobing

There's no such thing as "2k" res.

The speakers is such a retarded "feature" there is no scale for it.
Other than that, this might be, specs-wise, exactly what I've been waiting for for several years.

there are 27 inch monitors with 1152 zones and 4K res, not impressing, step in right direction though

170Hz may not seem much better than 165Hz but the key thing here is that you can actually use the extra 5Hz

On a 165Hz display you need to drop down to 144Hz to watch 24Hz content without judder or pulldown 168Hz is exactly 7:1 for 24Hz movies. Either you spend time swapping between 144Hz and 165Hz all the time, or you don't bother and just run the screen in 144Hz mode all the time, wasting the extra 21Hz capability. 168Hz is a daily-driver refresh rate, IMO.

To hell with backlight 'zones', when are the true mini-led monitors coming to replace OLEDs? That's the next step, none of this half arsed stuff.

Mini-LED doesn't scale down to the pixel density required for desktop monitors, and it's still OLED-price for large format displays.
Give it another decade, in other words. We might see cheaper-than-OLED televisions with Mini-LED in the next 2-3 years, if we're lucky.

You mean micro-LED, not mini-LED. And that seems to have a pretty long way to go until actual products are out. The closest we have right now are Samsung's 75" 2160p panels which are quite far from the pixel density we would want for a monitor (and lets not talk about the cost).
OLED is considerably closer when LG's 42" panels are out which should be this year.

576 zones for 1440p display means something like 1 backlight led for 80x80 pixels :)

Where are those OLED monitors you want to replace?!?

I'm guessing this is going to be like 1 grand or close to it... so still a hard pass for me.

The specs are very interesting.
It would be interesting to see if they will offer it in other markets and at what price.

ya I will wait for reviews.........................

smart. I remember when everyone got all excited because TCL 55" Mini-LED tv hit Amazon for $650 last year or the year before, can't remember now, but it ended up getting mediocre reviews. so yeah... mini-LED isn't crap unless it's implemented right.

There's no such thing as "2k" res.
2K was and still used as an old marketing term to state how superior their monitor resolution over 1080p. If I remember correctly that catch phrase caught on a great deal in 2014 when there was a flood of Korean monitors being shipped into the US. Lost its flavor as soon as they started to sell 4K monitors.

Those specs put the Samsung Odyssey monitors just announced, to shame.

Viotek just released last week a new monitor as well, HDR600, 600 nits, 27" 1440p 180hz IPS. its not mini-LED, but still, some impressive specs for only $299.

Too bad you can even see the backlight bleed on the photo with the monitor logo on display. Look at the right edge

Mini led is just more of the same indeed, the only difference is higher peak brightness to meet that failure of a Vesa HDR spec. And people go "oh wow its new", see topic

All you really get is earlier eye damage.

HDR is something I have and disable for the most part. Ignoring the pain of having 1000nits searing your retinas, there's also the abysmal HDR support in windows and just like every other aspect in media production, so much of the source material isn't mastered properly so you still get grey blacks and detail loss through saturation.

200nits is bright enough for indoors unless you're unfortunate enough to have direct sunlight hitting your screen, and the solution to that is a window blind, not 1000nits
