The Swiss low noise cooling solution provider ARCTIC COOLING today announced the launch of two VGA coolers - the Accelero XTREME 5970 and Accelero XTREME 5870. These two 3-fan solutions are tailor-made for ATI Radeon HD5970 / HD5870. They follow the sophisticated design of the Accelero XTREME series, offering the best cooling for these high-end graphics cards.

Both models are equipped with three 92mm PWM fans running from 900 to 2,000 RPM, generating 81 CFM airflow for efficient heat dissipation from the core(s). The Accelero XTREME 5970 is designed with an 8-heatpipe and 119-fin architecture to achieve 300 watts cooling for the dual-GPU Radeon HD5970. Whereas the Accelero XTREME 5870 comes with 5 heatpipes and 84 fins, providing 250 watts cooling capacity for the Radeon HD5870. A layer of the ARCTIC MX-2 thermal compound is also pre-applied on the base of these two coolers.

The results are very promising- the GPU temperature of Radeon HD5970 and HD5870 is now 40°C and 36°C lower respectively than using the stock cooler. This enhances not only the overclocking performance, but also extends the service life of your valuable VGA card.

Whisper quiet
Using three fans does not mean the noise level will be high. The precise fan blade design improves the laminar airflow and helps reducing the noise level to a minimum - only 0.5 sone at full speed (2,000 rpm). The patented fan holder and PWM function helps the Accelero XTREME 5970 / 5870 to reduce the noise further, creating a much quieter gaming environment.

The Accelero XTREME 5970 / 5870 offers a 6-year limited warranty.

The Accelero XTREME 5970 will be available in May. The MSRP is US$76.95 and 56.95 € (excl. VAT).
The Accelero XTREME 5870 will be available in April. The MSRP is US$67.95 and 49.95 € (excl. VAT).

And all we 5850 users are still stuck with is their L2 Pro:shadedshu

If you think the card itself is long, just put one of these on it. Mine is 11" long and 2.5" tall

You guys got the Twin Turbo Pro :slap:
It might take a little modding but by the looks of it should be fine.

So not as Arctic meant it to be used. They fail to fill the gap of enthusiast 5850 clockers.

Edit: you still need to bend fins :shadedshu

Awesome. Gonna get that for my 5970s :rockout::rockout::rockout:

I have one of these for my GTX285.

Very cool, very quiet, very big, very heavy.

You better have 9 pcislots. This one is 3slot cooling, so 3*2 + 2 + 1

I got 7 slots so only i'll be able to fit in only one. Since both 5970s basically takes the space of four slots lol.

This cooler kick full GPU waterblock asses.

This is what I was waiting for, before buying the 5970. This will make the card pure win!!:rockout:

Yep but i bet ya that they sell real crappy VRM cooling with it. So ya probably need some thing like a VRM-R4 to cool them well. Which in all makes that a shit assed expensive.

Well I have the version for the 4870x2(looks exactly as this one) and it's so goood :respect:
So I hope this works similar or better.

Yeah the coolers are totally kick ass i have one for a 2900 but the let down with all these 3rd party coolers is the crappy VRM cooling. And what AC should be doing is making the VRM cooling in to the same cooler so they can take advantage of the cooler and not just the GPU 5then they would really kick ass.

I'm wondering how the PWM is going to function. Will there just plug into the GPU's board, or is there just going to be a connection for the motherboard header?

Finally, both my rattling Sapphire 5970s is going to be quiet :-)

The 5970 available in May? Damn, I need one of these now to fix my cold-bug :(

Wondering if were going to be able to fit two cards with this product in Crossfire..

They are 3 slots, so depends how the slots in your motherboard are. 16x/1x/1x/16x and your good to go.

I have a Gigbayte UD4P X58, I think I am going to have to use the bottom x16....Wonder if that would run in dual x16

Some problem with ACCELERO XTREME 5970 fan speed

Hello)))
I have istalled ACCELERO XTREME 5970 successful))) But when i started the GPU-Z program, i saw, that the fan speed was about 630 RPM and wasn't controllable in depend upon the temperature((. Do anybody know the properly fan setting for ACCELERO XTREME 5970 for RBE program? Or do anybody have updated bios version for sapphire HD5970 with installed ACCELERO XTREME 5970 cooler?

The reviews I've seen on it, they used MSI Afterburner to control the fan.
