Arctic Unveils Freezer 4U-SP5 Cooler for AMD Socket SP5

ARCTIC is expanding its range of high-performance coolers for servers and workstations. With the Freezer 4U-SP5, ARCTIC is introducing a specialist that was specifically developed for SP5 EPYC processors and offers optimal cooling for the highest demands. With a maximum power consumption of only 6.96 W, the Freezer 4U-SP5 cools even the most powerful AMD processors with 128 cores and 360 W TDP extremely efficiently.

The targeted arrangement of the heat pipes at the high-temperature zones of the PCB edges enables rapid heat dissipation exactly where it is needed. The Freezer 4U-SP5's fans work in a push-pull configuration and can be controlled via PWM, which ensures performance-optimized operation. The long-lasting, particularly low-wear double ball bearings make it ideal for 24/7 continuous operation. With a height of only 145 mm, the Freezer 4U-SP5 fits into common server cases from 4U/4HE and can also be used on dual-CPU mainboards.

This product is NOT on eBay, despite what was reported by them. the only thing on eBay is used Arctic SP3 variants with the fan that is known to fail after less than a year.


The prior SP3 variant had fans that failed within months, I went through 8.


For SP5 I would suggest more reliable products, especially on expensive 9004/9005 motherboards and Epyc CPUs.

Arctic NEVER provided support or response despite multiple requests on the fans failing on their SP3.

According to a YT review they use 120mm double ball bearing fans with a 300 to 3,300 RPM range, so probably some P12 CO MAX variant.
Don't now anything about reliabillity thoug and the level of quality regarding support.

But I do agree with venturi that with such costly components relaying on their performance they better be good.

After all the fans I've owned, I have a love and hate relationship with Arctic.

They are insanely good value, the performance you get for the price, combined with the noise is amazing. If you want better, you need to pay a lot more. They come in different variants for pretty much all the sizes.

But, they are by far the most least reliable fan brand I've ever touched. I've gotten over nearly 30 fans from Arctic and by far, I've already RMA'd 8 of them. Out of those 6, 4were DOA, 3 had bearing failure and 1 had failed PWM processing, resulting the fan not listening and obeying PWM signal. And all of those that weren't DOA, were failed within 12 months of deployment.

The warranty is nice but the fact that you have to disassemble from the case is always pain in the butt.

I would like to recommend Arctic more but these QC issues really prevent me. I really want to like them but I can't spend all my time of RMA'ing and replacing them.
