Are the pins in this socket 775 beyond repair?

Someone gave me an old motherboard they had kicking around. An MSI P43NEO, but some of the pins in the socket appear to be bent.
Anyway, I didn't get any life out of it when bench testing, so it may not even be worth it. I'm just curious because I have a few compatible CPUs hanging around.

That seems pretty dead to me.

I dunno - I'm not seeing any pins that's actually broken but there are a few that's bent over backwards. Those could break during the straightening process but as long as it's done carefully they may have a chance.
I'd try it, if for nothing else than to get some experience in doing such work and the best part is you may actually fix it.

Thanks for your replies.
I've watched a few videos on this, so it's worth a try as @Bones says. You just never know.

In addition to these on top, there are other lightly bent pins all around.

Bent at the base is usually salvageable, those will become very brittle but should hold up to socket pressures. Bent in the middle at the elbow, that's almost always a death blow. The metal is so incredibly thin at that spot that a 100+ degree bend (such as the pin in column 24, row 7 counting from top left, and the pin in column 9, row 19) will almost always break if a fix is attempted.

Definitely +1 to the suggestion to try anyway. The experience of how the pins react to the poking and prodding can assist in future attempts.

There's three pins that are outright missing. Datasheet information HERE.

Looks like you're missing pins J12 (VCC), T1 (COMP1) and U1 (VSS).

VCC and VSS should be power and ground respectively, but COMP1 is listed as an "input" pin. At least one of those missing pins has the potential to cause strife.

I'm hoping those are pins that won't make any difference and perhaps the one noted won't stop it from working.
This is the socket in my Maximus IX Hero I fixed and had never tried fixing a socket before I did this one:

Obviously those towards the right side were messed up but good and there was at least one missing but in the end I got everything right that was there to fix and the board works.
That was back in March 2018 and the board still works fine to this day, in fact it's now the wife's daily.

One suggestion I can make is to do whatever bending you need to do SLOWLY and methodically as I had to. Also helps to wear a magnifying visor while doing this and one with the light made into it, thats what I used to help do it and made a world of difference in what I could see during the process of checking and fixing it.
I'll also say look it over several times, there are pins out of place in the pic that's really easy to miss and had to look it over as said to make sure I got them all.

In the end the pin tips are what to concentrate on. As long as they are in place correctly and the pins aren't touching other pins it's good to go if it's gonna work at all.

Even if the pin itself looks deformed/twisted after the work is done, as long as the pin tip itself is in the right spot it should work anyway and I did have at least one like that after my work was done.
