ASUS Announces the ROG Maximus IX Extreme Motherboard - Monoblock Preinstalled

I'll turn the table on its head with this article, and start by its ending: if you are one of those users willing to spend $629 on a motherboard that carries all the bells and whistles and then some, the ROG Maximus IX Extreme is probably the product for you. And the opposite is also true. This is as premium a Z270-chipset motherboard gets, I'd wager. The integrated monoblock - which covers the CPU, VRM, and M.2 slot - was designed in collaboration with Bitspower, and features embedded temperature and flow-rate sensors as well as a built-in leak detector. It joins the usual staple of Z270 features: DDR4 support up to 4,133MHz, dual PCIe 3.0 x16 slots for SLI and CrossFireX, Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 Type-A/C, and the aforementioned M.2 socket, which is Intel Optane-ready.

The monoblock, IO cover, logo, and RGB headers feature RGB lighting effects such as breathing, strobing, pulsing, music effect, rainbowy, and... more. The RGB lighting can even be set to change color to reflect CPU temperature and load. Even the 3.5mm audio connectors are LED-illuminated. A sparkly Christmas tree finds itself floating through my mind, for some totally unrelated reason. ASUS' exclusive (well, "exclusive-ish") features make their way to this premium motherboard, such as the pre-mounted I/O shield, strengthened SafeSlot PCI Express slots, SafeDIMM memory slots, and a copper-plated PCB edge. Asus' Extreme Engine Digi+ is composed of NexFET MOSFETs, MicroFine alloy chokes, Digi+ PWM controller, and 10K black metallic capacitors. The Maximus IX Extreme also features 12 fan headers throughout its PCB are, as well as additional temperature and flowrate sensors for anyone who wishes to use two distinct cooling loops.

Finally, there is a little things for added'm not willing to pay $ 630 .For fen controller, flow meter and monoblock is cheaper ! I doubt it the quality of mechanical products from ASUS. Until now, each element i buy had seriously damage! So regardless of surface measuring fluid leakage ,that will not be enough. It can leak elsewhere. Does it have added a USB DAC headpreamplifer as a precursor and accessories? I do not know but only with everyone could be approached to thes price. And Top of on the processor is canceled (and it is 20 degrees Celsius less).

considering my was poorly put together and if i didn't notice it during installation i would have a pretty big leak

as usual asus quality control is poor

if you buy this please make sure to check every screw so there will be no surprises...

This looks amazing! While EK is going downhill, or at least not going with the times aesthetics wise, ASUS of all people now has figured it out. You simply don't put a huge silver block on a black board, and if you make it black people still want to see INSIDE! When I said this in one of the recent EK block news threads someone was making excuses for them how it's not possible to make a black block with a window to look inside...

Theres nothing exciting about overclocking kaby lake. Under conventional cooling this would feel like using a 120$ board with a 50$ cooler. This might be the saddest part about overclocking in the modern day.

The more time goes on, the more i miss some things we had in the 775 era

Well, if you're referring to my comments in the EK thread, I thought you wanted the baseplate to be black; and not that you simply wanted a dark, opaque casing. EK does have that aesthetic (like their Supremacy MX) in their portfolio.

And we'll have to agree to disagree, as I think this monoblock looks atrocious, and the EK one is nice and clean. This block has too many lines and angles, and creates a messy look in conjunction with the motherboard's contours and features.

terrific, if results are promising a solution for some users that might had hard time with m.2 drives will be at the next corner, cuz other snake oil solutions were a completely epic fail,

Why would I want the baseplate to be black when it can't be seen from the outside with coolant? I was obviously talking about how it looked from the outside.

The Supremacy MX isn't even in the same ballpark as this block. It also, again, doesn't have a view of the coolant.

This block fits perfectly with this board, unlike what EK did. But they're just the same designers from the same company, so what do they know...?
