ASUS debuted its second generation ROG Thor power supply series with the ROG Thor 1000 W Platinum II. The design focus with these appear to be low noise and next-gen connectors. ASUS used heavier heatsinks over the various hot components of the PSU, which have double the "volume" (surface area for heat dissipation, as well as heatsink size). These are paired with a 135 mm ASUS Axial-Tech fan that is designed to direct all of its airflow axially. The PSU can sustain fanless cooling up to 500 W load, and 12-15% fan-speed up to 700 W load, with the fan only beginning to ramp up beyond 700 W. This gives the PSU a Cybenetics Lambda A++ noise-rating certification. The switching efficiency is rated 80 Plus Platinum.

Under the hood, the ASUS ROG Thor 1000 W Platinum II features a single +12 V rail design, with most common electrical protections, against over/under voltage, overload, overheat, and short-circuit. The fully-modular PSU comes with connectors that include a 24-pin ATX, two 4+4 pin EPS, one 12-pin Molex microFit 3.0 capable of up to 450 W delivery, six 6+2 pin PCIe power, twelve SATA power, three Molex, and a Berg. The PSU features a monochrome LED display that puts out realtime load, voltage, and thermal monitoring. There's plenty of addressable-RGB LED illumination, which can be controlled via a standard 3-pin ARGB connection. The company is backing this with a 10-year warranty.

If not for the LEDs, I'd say it looks great. Also - the hybrid fan switch in the back resembles the one from Seasonic Prime.

It in fact is a Seasonic Prime under the hood.

Outsourced from seasonic? just like evga outsourced many super flower psus? I want to see the review to make sure if is really from seasonic.

Edit, just checked, yeah it seems all asus rog psus are from seasonic.

I'm surprised Seasonic had any to spare, seeing as how they are constantly sold out on Amazon for last two years, but eh

Usually rog branded products are more expensive, fanboys pay more for them even though it might have similar product to that one and cost less, reason seasonic is selling the ones to asus ehhe, getting more money out of it.

And gigabyte is doing the same, a good example is that gigabyte oled tv monitor, similar to that 48 inch lg oled tv, interesting on rtings, the 48 inch oled lg tv is better than the gigabyte one.

No word on pricing but I suspect this will be $50-100 more than the Seasonic Prime it's based on.
ROG tax is high because RGBLED is expensive (/s)

Also, a berg connector? In this millenium?

My PSU is also low noise, cuz it's a Seasonic Fanless TX-700.

Aaand the fan looks like it's still facing the wrong way. My 850W Thor runs so hot in the "proper" orientation, but if I flip it over so the fan faces down for airflow then everything's facing the wrong way. And I suspect the wattage reading is still at-the-wall instead of actual DC power draw...

Can't say my monke brain doesn't love the look though lmao

Why would i buy this when the 1200w version couldn't have my RTX 3080 it shat its self on high load FAIL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Seriously, w.t.f.......

Hello Asus/Seasonic, this is 1987 calling, and we want ALL our useless, outdated, antiquated connectors back, like, yesterday, hehehehehe :)

Idk who the oem Asus is Using. I saw like a 650W unit from them and went with Seasonic for half the Price with 10 years, off the shelf

Everyone does that lol, not only EVGA and not only to Seasonic or Super Flower. Even Seasonic and Super Flower outsource too.

How do you think your comment contributes to this thread? Nobody cares about your bragging or what you have. Another prime example of what is wrong with this site these days.

Rog PSUs have heatsinks in it. It is a Seasonic PSU but a better version. I have a 850w Thor it's a beast.

Bulkier heatsinks don't help in the PSU. Chances are, this actually makes it worse, but ASUS doesn't care, it's just marketing.
