First of all, great review of this mobo here really nice stuff like TPU always :toast:

Now it's about time for some negatives on this mobo :wtf:
njaah I think it's just me with bad luck lately, I had pretty much awful year what comes to technical stuff seriously, all my mobos, monitors, HDDs, phones, wacuum cleaners, lawn mowers and even car engine were faulty this year :ohwell:

Yesterday got this kind of problem with USB 3.0, actually didn't use USB3 until now (owned the board for few weeks already):
- connected a mouse to front USB3, no life in mouse
- connected it to the rear ones, the same issue.. nada
- connected back to USB2.. no go, none of USB ports responds now
- went to Device Manager (with a keyboard aye) to scan devices --> Device Manager freezes down

- all this time keyboard was working fine thru upper rear USB2
- tried keyboard to some other ports and it didn't work anymore

- reset button and all good working in USB2
- reboot with mouse connected to USB3 --> doesn't work
- but for example it works in UEFI with either USB2 or USB3 - it just significially slower while using USB3.. weird isn't it?

*Asmedia (and all others) drivers were loaded a month ago from Asus web site.
*USB3 was enabled (as default) in BIOS.

This problem made me open the case and look inside, then this happened- internal USB3.0 connector broke into pieces after was removing from a USB cable where it got stuck :(

I didn't manage to stick the red plastic back onto mobo, it's sooo tight somehow and I guess that's how it should be but don't get it how did it manage to get stuck onto USB cable at first place  Didn't pull anyhow harshly or awkwardly! Now I put USB cable straight to the bare pins (without red thingy) but dunno if should use it that way?

Problem nr 2

AI Suite crashes every day many times a day - older version did that and I stopped using it, now this new does the same. Now THIS is something that starts to piss me off because AI Suite is such a nice and useful software when it works that I really want it not to crash pleeaaseee help

I use both front and rear USB 3.0 in my USB 3.0 drive testing. I did not notice any issues, but is it possible due to the damage that occured, that you powered on with USB 3.0 header backwards?

That is not a normal problem, for sure.

Of course, AI Suite does contain software for USB charge settings, so the whole thing may be related.

Personally, I'd go direct to ASUS with the problem. you can find the ROG forums here(tech support requires a thread there anyway):

Yea i will approach Asus there.

USB3.0 devices freezing happened before I got physical damage of the red USB port.

do you mean if the chassis front USB cable was connected backwards into mobo's red port? I guess that's not possible to do once the cable goes in only one way?

I dunno..anything is possible. I have seen some issues sometimes with various bords with USB 3.0 freezes. More often than not I have found this to be due to improper driver, or driver error, and more often than not with the front port plug.

I owned this board for a couple of months. The first problem is odd, and no, I've never experienced it. The second issue I've experienced on this, and numerous other Asus 1155/1156/1366 boards. For some reason AI suite is just not stable these days.

Onboard USB 3.0 Port

When you described "the red plastic thingy broke into parts," it sounded like you were inserting the cable in reverse. The cable has a "key" sticking out of it, and there should be a corresponding "notch" in the onboard port. If you try to force the cable in backward, it would possibly make the plastic port crack.

Just a thought,

Rick

I know what you mean, a "key" into "notch"... it was all correct installed really.

Problem nr 3

Just noticed that mobo temp is 46 celsius :twitch: all other components are around 30C or below! and it doesn't matter if it's idle or loaded it stays at 46 or 47 degrees.. wtf is happening..

Ok maybe it's not mobo fault, maybe it's PSU? if these figures tell something?

I never overclocked this system above 4GHz (which is really nothing much right?), I was more than happy using it "as is" after upgrading from S775 platform. Now I would like to start to play a bit with OC but how I can do that once mobo temp is 46 already?? So annoying seriously because I could have stayed at 4GHz with much cheaper Asrock which bought at first place :ohwell:

Makes me wanna join Wall Street protesters or something. Seriously because I have witnessed so many companies manufacturing bling-bling products WHICH ARE NOT TESTED ENOUGH or rolling-out FAULTY UPDATES - I'm more and more sure it's all about flashy marketing, fast mass production in Asia to empty our Westerns pockets.. pure profit and greediness IMO
Of course, me being employee in huge IT company, I understand that it's impossible to test every possible parts compatibility but then you have to have customer service which 1. has knowledge 2. is dedicated to HELP fast ffs!

I started build PCs in 1997 and everything was 50 times slower back then but at least everything was 50 times better in terms of hardware reliability. I think I got my first faulty part sometimes in 2005-2006 and starting then year after year more and more stuff gets faulty :(
