At this year's CeBIT ASUS is showcasing the world's first monitor with a built-in 4-port USB 3.0 hub, the PA248Q. Part of the ProArt Series, this SuperSpeed USB-enhanced display makes use of a 24-inch IPS panel, and has LED backlighting, 178/178 degree viewing angles, a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, a 6 ms response time, and a maximum brightness of 400 cd/m2.

The PA248Q also boasts D-Sub, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort inputs, the QuickFit Virtual Scale feature, and a stand allowing for height, swivel, tilt and pivot adjusting. A pre-order listing has the monitor at about $594.

So this is exactly the same as the PA246Q but with USB3 ports instead of USB2, cause I've got the 246Q and these are the same specs.

Edit: oh by zooming on the picture I see they also changed the position of the buttons to the right side of the screen (they were at the bottom before).

I was planning to buy the previous model soon, is worth waiting for this one? I normally use DVI connector on my monitors, will I need USB at all?

Center controls are much better, not everyone is right handed and i prefer a symmetric design. I change the presets of my monitor everyday in accordance to outside light. Of course, a light sensor like Samsung would be much preferred.

Wow. Someone actually put out a new 1920x1200 monitor.

Without a shiny bezel.

Should be very happy, but it costs $600.

I think they do this to be scarcastic.

Nice. I've been looking at the PA246Q as my new monitor, but I'll wait for the PA248Q to phase it out and hopefully take the current price-point of $500.

About time!!! (the USB 3.0 ports that is) Didn't even check the rest of the specs but I'm ready for 2.0 to become old news. I want my shiny new thumb drive to work at super speed specs everywhere.

At this price they should be giving us 2560x1440 or it just isnt exciting news.

for that price, they should have had a 30 incher....

Stick to 16:10 (yay they still make these) and bump that up to 2560x1600 IMO; otherwise yes nothing exciting here at that price

IPS panel looks nice but I see no mention what the colour depth is (presume 8-bit) and if that refresh rate is 6ms grey-to-grey (would not surprise me if it is). :shadedshu
