ASUS Radeon HD 6990 Listed on Pre-Order

...the die shrink will come in Q4. If TSMC doesn't mess up of course...

TSMC = Two Simpletons Making Cock-ups

HIS ATI Radeon HD 6990 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
£569.99 inc VAT

Ouchies..... But to be expected (twice the price of a 6970). US price will be about the same in dollars...

Ill say it once more. If the price in US will be 600-650$ ill order it from there. Will be a lot cheaper even with Taxes...

i know ppl arent bitching about the price of a pre-order item. They aren't stupid enough to do that. The item being overpriced has nothing to do with amd and everything to do with people who want it first, like any other preorder anything and the store that has it first.

Well launch is tommorow. Im just nervous becouse i still dont have video card for my new Build. Ordered hd 6970 dcii but cancled my order after saw this is coming.

They will cut the price after nvidia release its dual GPU card. Trust me. ;)

that would be a more expected price, 1000$ is the price of 3 6970's!

even still i would like to see it decently cheaper than 6970 crossfire as the 5970 was compared to the 5870 at launch.

No way is it going to be cheaper than 2 6970's. The benefit is you fill 2 slots instead of 4. You'll be paying a premium for that. You always have with dual gpu cards. No hassle of CF or SLI and get two cards in one slot basically

Its listed in stock at one store in Australia for $825

A 6970 is $379-$400 so it looks about right. Price should drop under $800 once all the stores have them...

Which store?

the 6990 is actually 2 6970 clocked at 830mhz each...but AMD has provided a OC switch that clocks the card at 880mz immediately i.e the 6970 actual stock clock speed...and not that, this card can also be OC.d to 900mhz+ may be around 930-950mhz....which is not bad at all and better cooling would do wonders....and the most important thing...atleast for me no crossfiring PAIN:rockout:

+ the e-peen of having the most powerful card, until the 590, then you have the most powerful ATI card and 2nd most powerful card

You instantly assume the 590 wins? No no no. Wait till they are both out before saying a certain card comes 2nd.

the point was that the e-peen of havng the best card is only very short and useless

That made no sense @ all to me.

Am I correct in remembering that Australia usually gets most new products first?

And the price isn't too bad, my 5970 was $1090 AUD when I got it brand new.

Edit: Centrecom.com.au's price is rediculous compared to the other site

Pretty pointless card, just AMD trying to claim the crown. Although with those clocks and the same amount of shaders as the 6970, it will perform like crazy. No point really in buying the card if your not running Eyefinity. Especially when (hopefully) both Kepler and Southern Islands with the die shrink will come in Q4. If TSMC doesn't mess up of course...

There's a couple of games I can't max out, even with a GTX 580 @ 1920x1200 res. These do have a place.

I wonder if people are going to bitch about its heat output like they did with 480.

Since when was a 480 a dual-GPU card?

Since when did he say that it was?

Reviews state price to be $700 USD.

So definitely not a bad deal.

Question is... GTX 590? :)

Since when did heat output from the two-GPU 6990 HAVE to warrant the same "bitching" from a single-GPU 480? Whereas the 6990 OC is still 2 degrees cooler than the 480.

I wouldnt say we get it first, but we usually have products ready to sell on the official release day.

Centrecom always charge an early adopter fee, then drop the price in a week or so.

Wow, even with a overclocked 980X and a GTX 580? Would you be referring to Metro 2033? As far as I can see, other games get way above the 30 fps average which is considered playable. Although when playing multiplayer, it's nice to get 40-50 fps, just so that the gameplay is absolutely smooth. But I guess for the most of us, we would rather sacrifice the detail level a little bit than our bank account.
