ASUS seems to have finally made room for an ATI Radeon HD 4870 based graphics card to fit in its elite MATRIX series. Presenting: EAH4870 MATRIX. The card features ASUS' own-designed PCB with high-grade components to facilitate overclocking. The card comes equipped with a dual-fan cooler. The fans blow air directly onto circular aluminum fin arrays, to cool the various components of the card.

The card sports 512 MB of GDDR5 memory. The core is clocked at 770 MHz, with memory at 920 MHz (3680 MHz effective). One of the main selling points for the MATRIX series cards is the level of control it gives the users. Users are able to set and control clock-speed profiles, monitor the card's various thermal zones and voltages, set voltages manually, monitor and control fan speeds, and also end up with enhanced power-saving modes that reference-design cards don't come with. ASUS is yet to announce pricing and availability.

Very nice looking card. I wish the power connectors were on the top of the card like the 260/280's.

Nice!, looking forword to hearing about hte "POWER SAVING" part as i been waiting for some thing unique for some time now..

wow!! now all they have to do is to make a 260gtx model, and i'm in! :)

Sexy, a "stock" cooler you don't want to change :)

Asus redesigned the PCB , i thought all the highend cards were made from the same production line ??

Nope. ATI has been allowing board partners to stamp out their own PCBs this time around. Palit already had non-reference 4870's for a month or 2 now.

I have to say that's one of the best-looking graphics cards ever designed. I wonder what the price premium will be though...

I would certainly buy one if i did not have a 4870 already.

make that a 1GB card, with the Super RV770/Rv770 refresh, and they'll sell like hotcakes.

price? nope well untill i find out about the price i think its cool but we will wait and see
the sapphire 4870 toxic has the best cooler but is at the same tiem the dearest 4870 so it kinda makes it pointless

it looks like it has a better cooler than the toxic but we will see as i said before

I have the toxic and it does cool very well but it's not much quieter than the stock leaf blower at higher RPM's

That is probably the sexiest "stock" card ive ever seen. Now wheres the X2 version!!
Are we going to see any reviews on this? i wanna know how well that cooler works and how loud those twin fans are.

dang these Matrix series and Dark Knight as well are just so sweet looking

Yeah, and aren't the ROG series made by Asus too. TBH they are very similar, but they are cool so who cares? I just wonder why they have three series that are so similar, instead of mantaining the same brand.

Great looking cards, but 1GB model would have been much sweeter.

Damn that card looks sexy, I could get that card even if it didnt perform well just for the great looks, a bonus that it will perform nicely as well.

Effin sweet. A dual fanned card with rear exhaust. This is how its supposed to be done.

ROG card. good looking.

i wouldn't exactly call it a rear exhaust. Maybe some of the exhaust from the fan closest to the grill will exit out there but most looks like it will vent to the case like alot of non reference coolers.

that being said, i was about to be upset at buying the Sapphire 1gb card 'till i saw this was only a 512mb version.

Still a good looking card.

did anyone think this card go over heat

looks like a pretty good cooling solution to me
