I saw immediately first day when they present cards Elpida on Radeon Matrix and Hynix on GeForce Matrix.
I think that's not fare... Even today main purpose of Radeon is hash rate where Elpida is inferior.
Really not fair...
Radeon R9-290 DC2 Elpida,
Radeon R9-290X DC2 Elpida,
Radeon R9-290X Matrix Elpida
GeForce GTX780Ti DC2 Hynix,
GeForce GTX780Ti Matrix Hynix,
exception is GeForce GTX780 Poseidon Elpida and Radeon R9-280X Matrix Platinum Hynix...

At least R9-290X Matrix and GTX780 Poseidon deserve Hynix Video Memory.
One is premium Radeon ROG model and other is ROG GeForce model designed for water loop and people will try to OC them.
All ROG card deserve Hynix memory.

It's obvious visual improvement for me over DC2 series... It's smart decision because ASUS decide to paint black cooler and visible pipes,
but they should made better block. Now looks like on some cheap CPU coolers... They should make nice, polished, mirror place where cooler touch graphic chip.
ROG GTX760 Dual MARS is for me their best designed card.

I'm sorry for AMD owners, last years they could OC their Hynix memory well.
For me... I would miss R9-290X MATRIX only because Elpida.

Might aswell wait for new GPU shrink/architectures at this point. Stale GK110 performance is stale.

i share your opinion, these cards are basically worthless at this stage and only usable under ln2 or dice at least. on air same as the "cheap" card with 5% oc performacne difference at best.. not worth hefty sum of money that will be asked for it!

The 290 and 290Xs are pretty much controller-limited in terms of VRAM speed anyway, so it makes sense to cut costs there and use cheaper VRAM.

I have some experience for GTX780Ti Matix Platinum... card look somehow cheaper... I don't know...
Backplate is somehow... Than PCB you touch with fingers on some parts look somehow naked, chaep.
Maybe because I have Classified and model have plates from both side and than card is stronger... And Classified details are better.

I mean everybody have own experience, but details for me mean lot.
Look careful in high resolution over net both cards Platinum Matrix and Classified series. Don't even to talk about 70MHz faster card. Who can give you warranty today on 1200MHz Boost 3 years. Not many models. Some of them finish on pages with many unsatisfied people because manufacturer thoughts to race in MHz with EVGA. I only can my Ti card scaling for 50MHz is 5980-6290MHz in Firestrike GPU Extreme, because of that 70MHz is not little difference in clocks. About 400 Xtreme GPU points.
