ASUS ROG CG8565 Gaming Desktop Pictured

Here are the first pictures of ASUS' latest gaming desktop under its premium Republic of Gamers banner, the ROG CG8565. This black beauty is sculpted with the typical "edgy" design that has been found on recent ROG products. The case has no windows, but its design is enough to be an eyeball-magnet at LAN parties. The case looks well-ventilated with its intricately-designed vents on its top and sides. The front door slides down revealing the front panel, with two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, audio, multi-format card reader, a Blu-ray ROM + DVD-RW combo drive, and a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive hot-swap bay. The ROG logo glows red when the system is powered on.

Under the hood, the ROG CG8565 is a Sandy Bridge-powered system. It is driven by an Intel Core i7-2600K quad-core processor, that's overclocked out of the box at 4.20 GHz. There are two higher OC presets that's selectable using the ROG panel, OC1 runs the CPU at 4.40 GHz, and OC2 runs it at 4.60 GHz. The CPU makes use of liquid cooling. In all likelihood, the motherboard is an ROG Maximus IV-class. There's 16 GB of dual-channel DDR3-1600 MHz memory.



A NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590 dual-GPU graphics card is in-charge of graphics. An ASUS Xonar DX handles 7.1 channel sound. In terms of storage, a RAID 0 array of two 80 GB SSDs holds the operating system, while there are two 1 TB hard drives for storage, which can either be run as non-RAID disks or clubbed into RAID 0 or 1 modes. I like it although just not sure about the back of the case. If they could do a window and make it a sub $200 case. I'd buy the case for sure.

Meh... Pre built "gaming" PC's are completely overpriced. I would be surprised if you got change out of $4k for that one.

No fan mount on the side panel and that slide feature that covers the front of the case reminds me of the Asus Vento case that look like a super sized storm troopers head

The outside of that case is very nice...
Asus skip the "system" sell it it by itself, but include a coupon for $50 off with any board purchase 30 days before or 60 day after the chassis date of purchase, good only on mobo like; WS Supercomputer, Rampage, Revolution, Maximus or Crosshair Formula.

Gah, guess I'm the only one who thinks that is butt ugly.

I'm seeing no front intakes and no clearly visible side intakes. With only top intake, unless you got filters, that thing is going to be a dust sucking machine. Hence why most I've seen have a top exhaust. Then side intake would also limit where you could put it. People couldn't mount it inside of something without allowing room for air. Not that I'd do that. Mine are always on top of my table because of the dirt farm floor that tends to get sucked up into them.

I thought it was a cool idea but then saw it was a pre-built computer.
Though I'm surprised they're advertising it as a ROG but not placing a limited amount of ROG GPU's in it then moving to the 590.

last asus gaming PC i tore down had a downsized maximus in it. not the full board this one is likely the same. skimpy HS's and such on them but overall good products

That case is just freaking awsome but what about a realistic price. Keeping me fingers crossed ASUS doesnt go all Alienware on us where you pay more for the air than the components inside the case.

200mhz differance in the presets, seems a bit daft to me. 3.xx / 4.xx or 4.xx / 5.xx would make more sense to me.

Interesting looking case, though I rather stick with my custom modded HAF-932 for now. Though I will be picking up a nice ASUS ROG Bulldozer mobo...
