A full coverage block AND a blower? C'mon man! That's weak af. If your block is only just half decent, you no need um blower.
 
So .. $3K for the 4090? the strix air cooled is already over $2K so 3k for the hybrid cooled version wouldn’t shock me at all.

It might end up costing a similar amount the massive cooler on the strix can't be that much cheaper. Guessing 2100 ish.

Maybe it's not actually full coverage and the VRMs aren't cooled. Otherwise it would serve absolutely no purpose.

That's what I'm saying, they contradict themselves in the same sentence!

If it actually featured a full coverage cold plate the power delivery components (vrms) would be covered :/

EDIT- but if it was a true full coverage block it would likely need a 360 rad and it would only sell half as well...

The 3090ti varient performed better than any of the air cooled cards guessing this will be decent enough for those who don't want to strap a 200 ish block on the card themselves.... This is coming out kinda late though there really isn't the same demand as when the card launched seems kinda pointless the strix is already pretty damn good for people who want to spend way over the FE models price to begin with.
 
Full cover blocks aren't that expensive - $1-200.

This has the advantage of having the die on one cooling system and everything else on another, so temps might be OK compared to your average AIO cooler.

Custom water is still much better.

From what I've seen and heard, even the custom guys are loathe to block up their 4090s because they run so cool with the stock brick coolers. Yeah, these arent going to sell well at all for a number of reasons.

Lots of people like SFF or smaller enclosures and a single slot custom 4090 is tiny.

You know how Asus is with pricing. It will be much cheaper to buy a different card and go Byski or Barrow if your doing a sff build. Would likely save a grand in that scenario (even if you need to buy the rest of the loop). Which is one of the reasons why this thing is doomed.

I used to love water cooled GPUs back in like the 1080 ti days but considering the size of the stock coolers for 4090 that how much you wanna bet even the FE 4090 gets very close to this GPU using the same power settings.

You can probably get an LC card into the 50s with open loop cooling and a decent water block that is still better than the mid 60s-low 70s the air cooled variants run at. I think the larger appeal for most is the smaller size though. 4090s do react very well to lower power limits mine almost performs the same at around 350w vs 430w ish stock and the temps drop quite a bit in that scenario but they likely also would with water.

What happens to these kinds of cards in like 7-10 years, does the coolant evaporate to a level its worthless in cooling?

I'm not familiar with aio/clc coolers but from what I do know they almost always end up becoming ewaste.

There are the few, the proud, the recyclers. Those brave users who are motivated enough to create a loop out of them, add them to a loop or refill them (kudos to you!). Sadly those are few and far between.
 
AIOs are guaranteed e-waste. You can't even easily recycle them because they're made of the cheapest possible mixed metals with a reliance on coolant additives to slow corrosion.
 
Yea I am not a big fan of these styles because they still use the blower to cool the memory and that is one of the hotter sections of the card. It would be better had they gone with a full cover at what I can only assume is going to be a very expensive version of the card.
 
Quick question, and I apologize if it's been asked / I missed it somewhere, but for these AIO style cards, can the tubes, barbs, etc. be disconnected from the cards so that I could add in my own barbs to just basically integrate it in to my own loop or is that not possible?

No, you would have to cut them voiding the warranty.

this is sad. heck my mom still uses one of my old AGP ati graphics cards, runs like a champ still. that 4090 won't last nearly as long, yet technically it could last someone a life time, hopefully there is an air accessory people can buy when the AIO portion fails.
