ASUS today unveiled the obscenely wide ROG Strix XG49VQ 49-inch curved gaming monitor, with an aspect ratio of 32:9, or what you'd get if you put two 16:9 monitors side-by-side. With a resolution of 3840 x 1080, or half the pixels of 4K UHD, the monitor features an 1800R curvature. There are two notable branded features associated with this display: VESA DisplayHDR 400, and AMD FreeSync HDR. There are some impressive display specifications on tap, too, such as 144 Hz maximum refresh-rate, 178°/178° viewing-angles thanks to its VA panel, 4 ms (GTG) response time, and 450 cd/m² maximum brightness. Display inputs include DisplayPort 1.2a, and two HDMI 2.0 ports. The monitor features the full suite of ASUS GameFirst OSD utilities. You also get 5 W stereo speakers a 2-port USB 2.0 hub. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Going to have one problem with that. Lat time I saw my bank manager he told me to take a seat but I told him I was more comfortable on my knees.

Well obviously, since when does Asus make screens???

Asus doesnot make screen, but they can order with their specs.

I would stick to Samsung because of QLED and also Samsung is preparing a 49inch 120hz with 5120x1440

same as everyone else.... yet cost a lot more money... Yup it is a ASUS.

I would have to play on one this huge before buying. my 35 seems big at times I cant imagine a 49... maybe just sit back a bit more?

My question with these kinds of displays is; Why? Beyond video editing and a VERY few select games, what is the need for the super wide aspect ratio?

Immersion in racing games and flight simulators. If you are into that these screens are awesome.

Yes this! if I was building a SIM rig I would buy this before any other piece to the puzzle. could you imagine 3 of these? They would wrap all the way around you, it would be like being in a car

Or you could just get a VR for that. Cheaper.

call me old school... I prefer monitors. The VR sets I have used I didn't like. I hated the fact of putting something on my head and having the "monitor" strapped to my head and that close to my eyes.

I think 21:9 is perfect for games and movies. 32:9 seems too much imo

Not everyone likes VR and it has other problems like problems with motion sickness and headaches some people get after using it.

I would go with the monitor tbh.
