Not aiming to break any world records, here's a little bit of info on ATI Radeon HD 3400 series of graphics cards. The HD 3400 will be replacing the HD 2400 series in January 2008. The cards will utilize 55nm core and support DirectX 10.1, PCIe 2.0, UVD, PowerPlay and Hybrid Crossfire.

no passive versions?
this seems a good choice for a htpc :)

The second one (low-profile) goes into my next HTPC project if it can handle 1080i HD (which I'm sure it would). Their pricing sounds music.

how come 1 slide says 120 shaders and another says 40? which is it?

It if truly was 120 shaders, already the 3400 series would be as fast/faster than the 2600 XT... :D

and thats a good thing :) heck i might even buy it to game on. 64bit might kill it for me tho.

I'm confused? I thought the HD2600XT already had 120 stream processors with 128-bit memory? So wouldn't this 3400 be slower (with 64-bit memory?)

what nvidia cards will these cards compare to? like performance wise in games? i currently have a ati hd 2400 pro 128mb that came with my system and am waiting for a card to replace it early next year or so. i ahd the 8800gt, hd3850, hd3870 in mind.

Oh yes, well the memory... but still, if the HD3650/HD3670 have like 160 shaders or more, they'll be faster than a 2600 XT. Probably not much, but still. :)

It won't compare at all to the 8800's and 38xx's. It's not meant for gaming. It might be slightly faster than your current 2400, though 2*0=0.

If there is not much of a performance boost over the 2400, then the only reason I would recommend upgrading from a 2400 to this would be for the decrease in temperatures (due to the die shrink.) Then again... I think the 2400 runs fairly cool as it is.

If you are upgrading from integrated video, this would be a very good, low-cost option.
