AMD released an untimely Catalyst 10.8b Hotfix driver specifically targeted at users of the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 and HD 4850 X2 graphics cards on Windows 7 and Windows Vista. The new driver claims to improve multi-GPU performance scaling, and improves image-quality in Tom Clancy H.A.W.X. 2 by forcing anisotropic filtering from ATI Catalyst Control Center.

hmmm, seems quite a small bug for a hotfix.

seems a little late:wtf: being that the 6XXX are coming out in a few.

LOL and HAWX 2 isn't even out for PC yet....

I tried 10.6 and rolled back to 10.4. I'll have to hear very good things before I decide to change drivers again.

Am I the only one who hasn't had any problems with catalyst drivers recently? I've installed every version since 10.2 and all of them have worked well for me.

Well, there's still plenty of ATi customers using these cards, this is for them.

Same here.

Well the HD4870x2 is still their 3rd most powerful card...

Isn't it now AMD? I could of swore that ATI (branding) is gone... Oh, well.. I can't wait to see the 6xxx series.

Anything and everything pre-HD6xxx series is ATi.

Thanks for that heads up. haven't been loop with most everything.. Not no more at lease. Strange on what the hotfix does.. Probably to do so under ATI for upcoming events?

More people are using an HD4870X2 than any card of 6000 series.

I haven't had any drivers issues until 10.8 and its minor.

The CCC doesn't load and gives me an error message, if I install the 10.8 driver but use the CCC from 10.7 it works fine.

I'm using 4870x2 and never had any problems with the drivers. And supposedly X2 cards are most troublesome :)
Only overheating problems during summer :P so I had to manually speed up fan to 70%
I'm now on 10.7

They will use ATI until the 6000 line.. Then AMD cat 11.1......

Also this will work with 2 4870`s in crossfire...like 3 others has said no problems with drivers just the users........

I am pleased that other people have been experiencing no issues, but that's a fairly presumptious, arrogant and provocative comment that adds nothing of any value.

err why'd they bother I'd rather have seen fixes for OpenGL or ae they saving those for CAT12.12

That's true, but I think there are a fair number of invidia fans who were "persuaded" to go the route of ATI over the last couple of generations that want an excuse to gripe, Or simply manufacture them...Though that is an amount supposition, it seemed like some of the griping did come coupled with things like "I never had this trouble with invidia drivers", or "ATI's drivers are just terrible" or similar.

This patch is really good, worth a download. Before GTA IV was stuttering in crossfire mode with my 4850s, now the stutter is gone with CF enabled.

10.8b: Same problems with BFBC2 since 10.6 where there are flickering black screens or the whole screen goes black to a HUD-like view. The second GPU also sticks at 3D clock speeds after a DX9 game has been played.

10.5a: Still the best driver for me even though it does not have near as good performance in Crysis Warhead as 10.6-10.8b.

Test Setup:
Core i7 920 @ 3.6GHz 1.1375v TRUE + 8 12cm Fans
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
6GB Corsair 1734MHz 8-8-8-24
4870X2 + 4870
1TB Caviar Black 64mb
24" Dell U2410
Windows 7 Pro 64bit

That is not my case: I love my card, but I have more or less settled on 10.4. I have only ever tried 10.6 as an alternative driver and noticed text corruption on the ATI registration window that jumps up at the start - going back to 10.4 immediately fixed it. I understand that there is a certain degree of hit and miss that will also have a lot to do with card manufacturer and other system components, but I will not refrain from reporting back my own experiences and following this thread with interest because someone else feels that I am a griping Nvidia fan, nor do I think that any of us should have to put up with inflammatory remarks. That said, I reckon I came across a little too harsh myself and I apologise for that.
