Audio starts crackling, then PC becomes unresponsive

I've had this issue since I got my new computer with Radeon 6000 and Ryzen 7000 series parts roughly a year ago.

Every so often after starting my computer for the first time after a while of it being off, the audio starts crackling. It keeps getting worse for a few minutes, then my inputs stop responding, until error message sounds appear and my screen goes black.
The computer is still on, but I can't do anything with it. I have to hard reset it to get it to work again. It only happens after a 'cold start' and I can't actually see what the error messages I'm getting are saying since nothing is responding.
It only happens when audio is playing or I'm in a game that takes effort to run.

I have updated drivers for graphics and audio, but nothing seems to have helped. I also have Voicemeeter installed if that makes any difference.
I've not seen anybody have this exact issue before but I have seen similar problems. Hopefully this is something easy that I missed.

Is your BIOS up to date? Are your chipset drivers up to date? Also, I'd try uninstalling Voicemeeter to see if it fixes the problem.

It's possible you are running out of memory due to something. Which OS ?

Check in Event Viewer for WHEA Error 17 - Corrected Hardware Error entries.

If there are no events, in BIOS enable Advanced Error Reporting (AER), wait for the problem to repeat, and check again in Event Viewer.
