Ehh.. you won’t sell me on an AIO, I’ve already had one and I used it until I couldn’t use it anymore. Personally, if water will go in my machine again it will be a real loop. AIO looks nice and pretty and all that.. but the downsides are real. As for warranty, Corsair gave 5 on theirs. If you have a high TDP part or it gets pretty warm where you are, you can be sure you will be using that 6 year warranty. If I had a spare air cooler I would send the arctic in every two years for a new one.

I've got AIOs that are older than the six year mark and running perfectly fine. I've got a Kraken x60 (launched in 2013) that's cooling an overclocked 1680v2 perfectly fine, and just nabbed a EVGA CLC 240mm that keeps my E5-1650 at 60-70c, even with 200w being pulled. I think you've just had some bad apples that ruined the AIO tree.

Down to individual preference, id slap on 10-20 bucks more for lower noise levels any day of the week (eg. fuma 2). I admit I love the chunk in the trunk too.
i had a cm seidon 120 for 40€ + Noisblocker Fan = 50€ (Pump at 7v) absolutly silent:laugh:

You got yourself a new fren.
Seriously guys, what luke warm arguments on earth... if you don't like nonservicable aios, make your purchase a servicable one. There are aios which you can top up with your own coolant I'm afraid. If not, my ears are plugged while shouting lololol.

Sweet.. you can top it up :)

But how do you maintain it without destroying the warranty?

I will leave that for someone else to finger out :D

I think you are well insured, since warranty implies mtbf. What company does commerce for free of charge exchange in the warranty period? It would eat into their profits...

the correct choice would be Arctic Liquid II 360 or 420mm, if it fits to your chassis.
LQII/420 cools 10 degrees better than Noctua NH-D15 which cools better than several water coolers you have chosen : 240mm is not good enough today.

Hello,
If you do not want to read everything I've wrote here as it seems lengthy then this should summarise

Key takeways:
CPU clearance 161mm
GPU clearance 364mm (no fans)
GPU length 285mm so actual clearance 79mm
Cooling I9-11900f
What cooler should I get? Max Budget £100 but I'd rather less (70ish)

I have been slowly buying parts for an upgrade and finally had enough parts to do a full swap out in my s340. I am planning on getting a 2tb SSD soon and whenever I can find a 3080 FE in the UK in stock for MRSP then I will be buying it... RX480 will have to do for now
1638472324384.png

I am looking at coolers for my i9 11900f, now this is not overclockable and has a TDP of 65w. However, the board allows for this to be unlocked so that the turbo boost can be ran pretty much continously rather than in bursts so TDP 200+ is likely. Airflow in these cases aren't great and I've been running a coolermaster hyper evo 212 on my i5 6600k for the last 5 years no problem. My question to those who know, what cooler should I go for? CPU clearance gap is 161mm so that unfortunately rules out a Noctua NH-D15 or the Be quiet DRP4. I am just going to be gaming so I may be going overkill here but should be able to fit a Kraken X63 (seen for around 70-£80 atm) 280mm (55mm thick) in this case , front mounted with fans mounted first pushing the air through the rad, or a 240mm Arctic Liquid Freezer ii 240 (64mm thick around £70 and best performing in 240mm class). For some reason the ALF2 is throwing up compatability issues here but the RGB version has no issues apparently? GPU clearance is 364mm without fans (no fans on front currently anyway.) Fairly sure it will fit front mounted fine.

I don't care for RGB, I just want reliability and high performance whilst preferably not sounding like a jet... Though my case has sounded like that for a little while now lol. Any ideas or examples please let me know. One thought I had was possibly just buying a Noctua NH-D15 and then taking off the outside fan & using as a front case fan if the cooling would be sufficient with just one.

Imo just go air, if you dont want the aio to spray the conductive gunk all over the mobo and gpu (which can happen even with high-end aio's, and pretty much with every other water cooling solution. Only when you are building a custom loop thats when u get the option to choose the liquid, which can be conductuve or non-conductive, up to your liking (and safety of your pc ofc). AIO may sound like a cool new option, but it aint worth it. Next step from NH D15 or Assasin III would be custom loop, thats it. It doesnt really matter if it will run 10c hotter compared to a 360 aio, as long as the cpu doesnt throttle.
Afaik most aio's are using conductive liquid (and pretty corrosive too), nothing like alcohol which btw you can use in a custom loop, as well as distilled water.

My problem is the CPU fan clearance is 161mm which limits the high end air coolers that I can actually use as most are chunky 165mm+ unless you know of any that would fit and provide similar peformance. Arctic esports 34 duo is 158mm and TDP = 210w, artic liquid freezer ii 240mm TDP = 250w. Noctua DH-D15 TDP = 220w Kraken X63 apparently tdp = 250w also which is suprising, expected more for a 280mm - Same as the arctic.

Water coolers always seemed pointless to me, lots of quality air coolers from Noctua, Schyte, Deepcool, ect delivers performance that is on par while being half the price.

I would agree if the air coolers fit in my case... Although I may have answered my own question whilst looking at the arctic esports duo tdp = 210w as that actually fits unless anyone knows of better ones to look at? Noctua DH-D15 is around £80, Arctic liquid freezer is at the same price range and slightly better TDP although more risk, however it would actually fit in my case and the noctua won't. X63 280mm is also around the £80 mark currently which is why I've inlcuded those as they are supposedly fairly decent. When I benched my I9 the other night it hit 238w TDP on full boost and I've only got the stock cooler on atm whilst I decide what I want to go with.
1638477922488.png

I can fit a NH-U21A in the case although that's looking to be around £90 and by the looks of Noctuas own ratings, the D15 is approviamately 7% more efficient on my CPU which is roughly 205-207w TDP. Compared with the arctic esports it's double the cost, similar rating again for the NH-D15S so around the 205w mark and £80 for the black version so if I did get a noctua I'd get the d15 for £90 and take one fan off and use as a front case fan as I think that's possible.

Thanks SSS, looked up the Scythe Fuma 2 and that led me to this video, definitely looks like the best Air Cooler I can get for my case and half the price of the air coolers I was looking at + only stands at 154,5mm height!

I got 11 months out of an H100i and maybe 4 years out of an Asetek 120mm. The H100i pump died, and its performance was never great to begin with. The Asetek had a strong pump and it cooled great but the corrugated hoses split and the coolant leaked out. Fuck those things, I run air now.

I'm on a X62 kraken (7700K) and i think im approaching the 4th year now. Are there any particular workloads which are more prone for AIOs to fail quicker or is it down to the manufacturer/build quality? Overclocking maybe?

Most of my workload is basic + casual AAA gaming and these titles tend to push the 7700K hence i now leave it at stock. For eg. 5ghz OC carried me into the 80's (temps). No performance lost though, moving to 1440p i didn't see much performance difference with lower CPU clocks.

I swear the AFL had a warranty of 1 year. I just double checked, and now it says "Arctic extends its Liquid Freezer II Warranties from 2 to 6 years"

That's confidence!!

So still the best performing 240/360 AIO in 2021?? Anything better challenging the AFL? I went for aesthetics over performance with Kraken X62. No regrets, even after 3 years+ the subtle ring RGB effect above the pump doesn't bore me one bit :) Although i think with these newer gen power hungry 6/8 core CPUs, coming from a quad 7700K, id now probably fancy a performance-driven option.

so using aio cooler and maintaining them is a nightmare ... I'll go with air so the Thermalright looks good although there is no availability right now, by the way, how about the 120mm fan artic for the case according to the reviews are of great quality.

For an easily serviceable AIO, check out the Raijintek Orcus. My wife uses the 360mm version for her 5800x. I usually hate AIOs but this one won me over with the fill port and included coolant bottle and fan controller. The fans are tuned for quiet and the pump is silent. Best aluminum rad AIO I've ever worked with as far as price/performance/maintenance. It's not an Asetek clone either.

Hello,
If you do not want to read everything I've wrote here as it seems lengthy then this should summarise

Key takeways:
CPU clearance 161mm
GPU clearance 364mm (no fans)
GPU length 285mm so actual clearance 79mm
Cooling I9-11900f
What cooler should I get? Max Budget £100 but I'd rather less (70ish)

I have been slowly buying parts for an upgrade and finally had enough parts to do a full swap out in my s340. I am planning on getting a 2tb SSD soon and whenever I can find a 3080 FE in the UK in stock for MRSP then I will be buying it... RX480 will have to do for now

Having one fan on the Noctua is enough, as I have tried it. Any overclocking and you'll want both.
