With two GPUs, there is little reason to go over 850W (unless you are into bios and volt modding them past their limits).

"Seasonic" based built PSU's, preferably a Gold series from any of those top Labels, Seasonic, Corsair AX ,EVGA, XFX, some others.

As anyone here can tell you, DONT skimp on PSU's !!!!!
It's failure will take out thousand plus dollars of parts really fast! It's happened to alot of us here, so we learned the hard way................
Example my Seasonic X750 in jonnyguru's hotbox, put out over 900 watts !!

You want the best ripple suppression and tight voltage control, thusly all the aforementioned circuit protections

Coolermaster Vseries... Silent and EX2 series worked like crap form some builds i did for friends and other people....

I can't believe Coolermaster and Thermaltake made a list of 'Best' PSU manuf...

That blacklist is kind of funny too...There are a few quality Rosewill's around (now - 3 years ago, I would agree), EVGA G2 Supernova matches the Seasonic PSUs if not beats them in quality and are a lot cheaper.


I fear PSUs are still a black hole to enthusiasts...

I have a pair of Rosewill Semi-Modular 750W Hive PSUs that are fine.

As to PSUs being a black hole, some of them cost so much that paying for them seems like falling into a black hole.

Quality PSUs are the cornerstone of any really good build. Without them you're putting everything else in the build at risk.
There is nothing as important to a system's stability as the power that your PSU provides, and how it does so.

The new Coolermaster Vseries is built by Superflower(I think) which is the same OEM as EVGA.
I have my preferences according to the wattage.
Up to 850W EVGA and Seasonic are my go to.
Above that I stick to Antec HCP because the OEM is Delta and well Delta is Delta. If price is an issue I go for EVGA.
I don't buy PSUs above 1300W since I have no need for them. If I did have to go above 1300W I'd probably just buy 2 EVGA/Seasonic PSUs and run them in parallel.

Nothing should break. You've got plenty of amps for that setup.

Cooler Master V Series is my new favorite, made by Seasonic (KM3 platform), but lower-priced compared to Seasonic-branded units. My V1000 borderlines on platinum efficiency, runs quiet and cool, and is expected to last for years (has all top-tier capacitors).

I don't know if I made a mistake, but I have a Corsair AX860i and it's not even old, it has 3 months only and already has coil noise. And from my point it is faulty. I will do a RMA, but I would like to know from you guys, many maybe have experienced the same thing, which would be the next best thing.
I was thinking about Antec and I've put my eyes on the HCP-1300 .
From what they say there, it must be pretty damn badass.
Also was thinking about Enermax, but I'm not so sure about this.
I'm looking something in the range of 1000->1300W, maybe 1500, but it will be too much and useless.

The last 4 PSUs I've bought for myself or other people have been either Corsair (1, in my gateway and always on) or Seasonic (3, one of which is in my tower) and all of them are working strong to this day. More often than not I find that the PSU specs (if accurate) will be a good indicator of a half-decent PSU. I find that most powerful single-rail PSUs are the best. I know know about other people but I typically find that more rails means more problems, but that's not a good single measure gauge to work off of.

I skipped the Kill-A-Watt and went right to a UPS (An APC XS 1500 to be exact) with an output readout. On top of that, AIDA can see how my power my UPS is drawing as well when it's plugged in with the serial to USB cable. No special drivers, just a typical battery device over USB to serial. It's pretty handy though.

Not exactly. If you get a big PSU for a computer that doesn't draw much, you won't get very good efficency as <20% efficency can drop as low as 60-80% or less (depending on load and PSU size) versus the say 91% I would get on my PSU at 500-watts load. When my machine is fully loaded, it draws about 500 watts overclocked. Most PSU's efficiency is best between 35% and 65% with 50% typically being a sweet spot.

So depending on your goal, a huge PSU might not be optimal. A big PSU on a HTPC could mean the difference between 100-watts power draw and 50-watts power draw. Use the right tool for the right job.

The Cooler Master Silent and V series are pretty good. My Silent Pro M700 has gone through 3 rigs now and is as strong as ever, longest I've gone without a PSU change. It's Bronze certified but I would bet it gets to Silver levels. I've got a Seasonic Platinum 660 as backup though.

CoolerMaster eXtreme power plus are also good for basic psu but the older OEM not the newest. Cant remember who made them but they were better.

The bad thing about those is that their model number suggested a higher wattage. I once bought an eXtreme 500 but right below the amperage table it said "The combined power of 3.3v, 5v, 12V1 and 12V2 shall not exceed 430w" making it a 450w unit (considering -12V and 5VSB). After seeing that I made my homework and went with the Silent Pro. Besides the new eXtreme2 are worse in terms of ripple and regulation.

So, what other kinds of "kill" are god when talking about PSUs? Not the "is kill" i hope.

Anyway agree with the not TO big for the job. Then again, here you need heating 10 out of 12 months in the year, and its not uncommon to only have electric ovens.
