I'm just guessing they have so much that obsolete crap lying around, so they just try clearing those out.
AMD is still making this "obsolete crap". That's the company you should mock, if you really need to.

But why even bother making a desktop motherboard with these, just put these into those cheap craptops. :/

in CPU Performance section you just put motherboard names against a CPU. its completely meaningless comparison!

You couldn't envision such a case, so I covered that.

That said, here's one you can buy:
http://www.akasa.com.tw/update.php?tpl=product/product.detail.tpl&no=181&type=Chassis&type_sub=Mini ITX&model=AK-ITX04-BK

Countless companies make small computing cases that won't go past 35W. That's why Intel makes -T CPUs. Not all of these cases are available on the market - some are custom made for enterprise clients.

Again: why would they want something more powerful? Maybe they don't need more performance? You really don't get this, do you?
Moooorrrre poweeerrrr!!!

that case cost 200 euro in my country

These platforms are not meant to compete with socketed platforms these are meant to compete with embedded atom based Celeron and Pentium. 99% of x86 mini pc are on intel atoms. This AMD platform has equal cpu muscle but with graphics that destroy the competition. Comments in this thread are clueless. It's like people are not aware of the many products that reside below socketed cpu platforms. Every modern mini itx motherboard is $100 and up, just for the board.

Fully agree mate. Really stupid comments from clueless people. I'm looking at dj-electric and danbert2000 here.

How on earth is an FX8800p too 'slow for casual use'?! How much CPU power does it need to stream a movie or type a word document ffs. Heck until Ryzen 3000 I was still gaming on the FX8370 (with rx580) and achieving good frame rates. Folks have two A10 machines (Kaveri / Bristol Ridge) which are great for multi-media use. I've even gamed on the A10 - the 512 GCN stream processes still smashing Intel's integrated graphics solutions today. You two have obviously never owned an FX processor.

This low cost, low power set-up is ideal for home theatre, office, server platforms. Only an idiot would spend more money on a Ryzen 1600 to do exactly the same task. Also, AM4 itx boards are expensive. Do ITX boards even have integrated graphics?! The 65w 1600 needs a bigger cooler, bigger PSU and probably a bigger case with better ventilation. And if you want to game - a dedicated GPU which all adds to power and space requirements. Where as the FX8800p can just fit into a thin client or a TV box like the Morex 557.

Clueless!

I'm thinking of getting this for a home NAS box setup. It's stupidly hard to find a mini ITX board for AM4 that costs sub £100.
That is where the appeal for me is. Yes, I know full damn well that a 'proper' board will do much better but ITX form factor is hard to find cheap these days, let alone AM4. I wish there was a zen based version but thing will hit the mark for now.
I'd have to pair it up with a controller card mind...

I'm late to the party, but I have some insight into where this product has significant value. Allow me to preface my comment by saying that CPU performance and upgradability means absolutely nothing when it comes to specific use applications. Case in point; we maintain a fleet of 200 IPCs (industrial PC) that are rack-mounted. The whole mission of each of these PCs is for automated test. These test stations remain online for an average of 4 to 8 years. If a PC dies during this period, and cannot be repaired by a memory or HDD replacement, they are simply replaced. The defective PC is recycled as scrap. These $1000+ systems are now being challenged by cheaper NUC type PCs equipped with an i5 CPU mounted in a mini-ITX configuration. We can mount these tiny PC anywhere and they are so cheap, that now we simply replace them when they fail.
