BIOSTAR Announces Radeon RX 580 White Graphics Card

They're still making these?! Good lord. For what market these target I thought we'd only be seeing renewed 8GB 6500 XTs in the near future, or those ultra low-end RX 7000 cards people were mumbling about a little while ago.

Theres plenty of games where an RX 580 is more than enough performance, but it is wild to think someone who bought one of these new in 2017 on an AM4 build can STILL buy replacement parts at retail with a warranty and all, for that whole pc lol

hardware longevity for the win

re-release a card from 2017 in 2024 why?

I guess 2xDPs and 1xHDMI is an upgrade over my RX 590 if the DP version is newer than 1.4 and HDMI is newer than 2.0b that's what my RX 590 got

My RX590 (Sapphire Radeon RX 590 Nitro+ Special Edition 8GB) came with 2xDP 1.4, 2xHDMI 2.0b and a dual-link dvi

I'd love to get my hands on a Nitro+ RX590. I'm a total sucker for those pushed-to-the-limit "end of a generation" cards. My EVGA GTX 580 Classified Ultra is probably my favorite GPU out of the whole collection.

Are these new chips? Or is Biostar just recycling these RX 570s from ETH farms? What an odd PR.

There's no new display controller unit, so DP version remains what it's always been. Also this Biostar card is a 2048SP so basically a 570.

I like this card though. I deeply regret not buying one of the golden 50th anniversary Nitro+ 590s. They were so cheap. Then Covid hit and the market was never the same again.

Would not surprise me, if GloFo is still making these chips for embedded applications and customers. Sure beats ex-mining cards, if reasonably priced.

Yup, if they are proven to be new stock and the price is good, it's still as good an entry GPU as any

The amount of 580s, 580 2048s I've helped users to restore made me stop being nearly as involved as I got tired of explaining the same crap over and over again.

580 2048 SP Device ID and SubSystem ID is 1002 6FDF 1002 0B31, I know that code by heart now and it's sickening.

The 580 is pretty long in the tooth now considering it was overshadowed by Navi.

All i see in this thread....

::EDIT::

I dont think the last pic quite done it justice.

I have my old 9900KF without a GPU lying around, if they sell them for 100 bucks new, I'll bite.

Probably they seen that on Aliexpress are selling good on the 65-75$ price range....

this is why there are no new low-end GPUs, you couldn't make one cheaper and faster than this on a new process with new memory. just look at the RX6400, its still over £150, half the ram and slower than this.

GLOFLO must still be pumping these out for peanuts if its new.

The buyer should be aware, that he soon or he already needs AMD legacy GPU drivers for any operating systems.

I cannot tell for sure whether that would be the case on Windows yet, but on Linux based OSes it is still supported by the open source drivers even if support by AMD itself were to discontinue in the (near) future.

On AM4, later cards probably still run. ;) Your remark on replacement parts might make more sense on motherboards etc.

Im sure they are still supported they just arent getting any new features. GCN has been around forever there isn't much left to fix or optimise at this point.

I wonder if the GPU itself is brand new (they still making it) or is it from ex mining cards. Not just Biostar there's plenty of Chinese cards flooding the market selling 'new RX 580'. It's not RX 580 because it uses 2048 shader ones not 2304. I wanted to buy one for spares but I afraid it just an ex mining ones on brand new PCB

They should focus on newer GPU like 5700, uhh even that is old by now.

You can find some on aliexpress for less than 80€, but they will be real? Beacause 5700xt still kick some ass, in some game going faster than a 4060 or a 6650xt, 7600xt. Hardware unboxed made a review of the 5700xt for a 2024 update.

im still on a 5700xt because there isn't anything faster for less money, if i want to double the performance im looking at double the money.

If that lie keeps you going, so be it, but that is very, very far from the truth, even if you're considering the very lukewarm likes of the RX 7600 as a replacement

Naaa.... RX7600 is not an upgrade from 5700xt, just a 10% or little less/more it depends from the game, for a decent upgrade you need 6700xt or 7600xt still if he wants to double the performance w/o RT, not even the 4070 can in 1080p, in 1440p a 7700xt or a 6800xt are needed, the minimum for a great upgrade is the 4060ti 16gb, the 8gb in 1440p is too slow.
(Sure his system with r5 7600 and rx5700 is mostly bottleneck by the gpu, until he plays in 1024x768 on a 17" CRT)

As usual, you're ignoring quite literally everything that has been added to the GPUs and their architecture since the 5700 XT (which was lacking even when it was new), writing it off as "superfluous" - and then you guys actually genuinely ask why AMD doesn't even bother making a high-end GPU anymore.

the 7600 isnt practically any faster, neither is the 3060, a few extra fps is not an upgrade, and features like ray tracing are pointless on mid range cards especially if all you play is FPS shooters.

going by that 1440p average 5700XT is 57fps, a 4060 is 59fps, 7600xt is 67fps, 4060ti is 79fps,

Sorry but £500 to go from 57fps to 79fps its not worth it. I wont upgrade until i get something almost twice as fast, so a 3080 or 6800. It will probably be a 6800xt next year as they are already down to £360 on the used market so should hopefully be under 300 by January.

i'm not ignoring anything, I simply posted benchmarks that show how a 7600 is not even worth consideration, what's the "feature" frame generation? RT? FSR2 and 3 with frame generation can be used with 5700xt (even RX580) with a mod, RT is really not worth if you can't afford at least a 7900GRE/4070 (I've got a 6800XT and in many title i can use RT decently, while in other i need to use FSR, and really i prefer native resolution to RT, but with fsr3 and fg i can have 90fps in 1440p in CP2077 with good RT, still the 100W more power used by my card tell me is better without. The 7600 can't run even F1 23 with RT at high frame....

Damn, I thought someone necroed a thread.
