Anthem, BioWare's upcoming always-on RPG that's being made as a Destiny contender, has been delayed until 2019, according to industry insiders (and as reported by Kotaku). The pressure on BioWare's team to deliver a killer co-op online shooter experience with integrated microtransactions' release is apparently being pushed to allow the team more time to avoid Destiny 2's and Star Wars battlefront 2's shortcomings. The tentative release data that had been previously advanced of Fall 2018 was apparently never a realistic goal, anyway. It remains to be seen whether BioWare can carve itself the halo co-op, single-player driven online game, as it strives to avoid missteps such as those that have already been hit, full stride, by other developers.

Not from me or most gamers their not, this must be more EA BS. Well i guess that's what happens when you sell up and not grow some balls like CDR did.

Looks like there has been a blowback of that revenue model slide-deck getting leaked, and EA decided it wants a cool-down before it can launch Anthem.

We will do periodic refresher stories of that slide-deck as we're approaching Anthem's release.

Plot-twist: the slide deck was leaked by a disgruntled, overworked, grinded BioWare employee that just wanted some more time to finish his pooping birds animations'.

It's really too late. EA already has a bad rep and Anthem was linked to Destiny and now Destiny is in the shitters also. No one wants to play a "Destiny like" game now.

There are also rumors inside the industry that if Anthem fails (and I give it 80% that it will), Bioware is next to wear cement shoes.

I miss when games were meant to be fun.

We're waking up in a new reality, my friend. No more fun for the sake of just fun from AAA studios.
I'm just hoping the next Diablo won't be plagued by AI-based loot find. I think ill be seriously devastated.

Ahahah, that was funny :D

Are AAA games just likely to be doomed from the start now? Is the amount of time needed to make a 4K game so much that studios feel the need for MTs? As a console gamer, I’d gladly settle for 1080P if that meant studios could deliver a game that didn’t need to be propped up with a secondary source of funding. I think they all know that raising the price of the base game isn’t the answer.

And I’m still hoping that Bungie can pull Destiny 2 from the pit. It looks great, and the mechanics are there, but it lacks the feel of the old game in various ways. Then again, maybe people burned out on the “Destiny grind” and version 2 was going to face an uphill battle either way.

I hope Bioware just dies already. Although I'd rather this not be delayed too much. I want to see it launched... and then bomb.

This coming from a former Bioware fanboy. :p

This game doesn't even seem very Bioware-like anyways. They've lost so many people who made the past games that it's only natural, I guess.

Looks like there will not be games from EA, Ubisoft anymore whit cpu requariments like Warframe, Team Fortres 2, Path off Exile, Star Conflict, FEAR 2, Left4 Dead2... they can even work on my computer. They only like rich people.

Yep. The infamous EA Finger of Death will probably make another appearance if Anthem craps the bed.

They're a dead man walking as it is. Just put it out of it's misery.

Well lets face it, EA is good at one thing and that's destroying brands we love, and looks like Bio saidly is going be sooner or later it's a real shame they cannot get away from EA.

Another EA CRAP release ??

The only upcoming game I have faith in for being good is cyberpunk 2077.

Same here but they nearly did not make it to the witcher 3 too, glad they were able to get away from Atari. I am sure if Atari had more money when they went though all their shit CDR would not of gotten as good deal with them.

I know next to nothing about cyberpunk and yet I have faith it'll be good.

I don't even particularly like the original pnp RPG setting, but in their hands, it may still be cool.

IF that ever gets released... But yes, looking forward to it. In the meantime, perhaps give this a shot... I really fancied it ;)

Destined to fail. Also, this is the very reason for postponing it for a good while, not only just to allow more time (which in all fairness never hurts a project) but for PR reasons. I think the numbers of these lootbox/RNG-driven games and the way their content is set up are starting to show some pretty sharp decline as of late. If EA was the wiser company, this extra time is being used to radically readjust the formula. These games are rapidly going the same way as the old school MMO: they are going to cater to a simpler, non-gaming audience that is not yet aware of this money trap - mobile.

It might not be obvious but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

Tried that game but couldn't really get into it. Maybe because this 'Syndicate' clone's story was too crappy and boring to motivate me going further.
Game devs fail over and over to understand that a good quality game is FIRST the story, second, the game-play, and maybe third, the graphics, etc. But definitely, definitely, the quality of the story is the nr 1 defined point of any game.

I'll agree with these type of games (i.e. RPGs and the like), but gameplay is usually more important.

That said, many devs suck at gameplay too. Or maybe they're told to suck at it. Many games seem purposely dumbed down and revolve around rote actions, rather than puzzles and pattern recognition.
