BioWare's Anthem Likely Delayed Until 2019

Tried that game but couldn't really get into it. Maybe because this 'Syndicate' clone's story was too crappy and boring to motivate me going further.
Game devs fail over and over to understand that a good quality game is FIRST the story, second, the game-play, and maybe third, the graphics, etc. But definitely, definitely, the quality of the story is the nr 1 defined point of any game.

Agreed, the story is crappy. But gameplay wise, it has quite a lot to offer. Personally, after having played some very rich storylines, and having played a huge amount of 13 in a dozen stuff, I really do prefer strong gameplay over a strong narrative most of the time. Another big component for games is the immersion factor and Satellite Reign captures that quite well.

Bioware used to be pretty good at both. Personally, I think ME2 was their last great game (at least ME2 gameplay was great on Insanity difficulty. The story was basically the Blues Brothers plot, but it's HOW they went about it that made it badass).

edit: That was actually the last game EA had nothing to do with too. Although Bioware did sell themselves to EA mid-development and EA published it, they didn't have a hand in development.

All these new games are style over substance. Polygon count and nice shiny multi-layered textures don't make a good game. Every one of these new games is following a formula that's been overused for over a decade now, to the letter. Combat mechanics have barely changed over the past 15 years. Physics simulation is still awful in games. AI is seriously bad and it doesn't look like it's gonna get any better anytime soon. And to top it all, we now have the cultural engineers invading the video game industry.

I hope Bioware just dies already. Although I'd rather this not be delayed too much. I want to see it launched... and then bomb.

This coming from a former Bioware fanboy. :p

This game doesn't even seem very Bioware-like anyways. They've lost so many people who made the past games that it's only natural, I guess.

Agreed. EA destroyed another studio. Better to just put a bullet in it now than watch it squirm in pain and gasping for breath.

I miss when games were meant to be fun.
You're not thinking straight and it shows. Few things are more fun than microtransactions for the one that rakes in the cash.

Mannn I kinda wanted to see this game be something cool and fun. Is this the game they were talking about with the AI based loot and guide?
The only thing I don't like about loot games like The Division and Destiny is the bullet sponges. Don't like feeling like im shooting a pellet gun.

I agree with everyone calling on bioware's death. The fact the studio was put onto an EA project rather then their own game series was enough evidence that bioware was following maxis to their doom.

Meh, at least we wont miss much. Anyone worth their weight at bioware left years ago when the founders deserted.

Thankfully we still have GoG around. Old games on both PC and console are cheap and offer far more fulfilling gameplay then modern games do.

+1
The only AAA titles I have bought on launch/preordered were Witcher 2 and 3. I still have a long queue of titles bought on GOG pending, that's enough gaming for me.

not bothering to read the comment noise, but the source never said 'microtransaction riddin' (why is the pinned top of TPU a different more sensationalist title than the current news post title!?)

the source mentioned multiple reasons & pressures, microtransactions were or are intended to be cosmetic only, the way they should be
