Well, that tweet that fans of the Borderlands series feared meant platform exclusivity on PC actually manifested itself. Gearbox today announced that Borderlands 3, the hit sequel to one of the first loot-shooters, will indeed be releasing on September 13th for all platforms - but will be distributed exclusively on the PC digital platform via the EPIC Games Store. Other storefronts will have to wait until April 2020 to sell copies of the game.

The game will also feature optimized performance for AMD's CPU and GPU portfolio, with AMD aiding in performance optimizations for its Ryzen CPUs, current GPUs and, expectedly, next-generation Navi. The announcement trailer and 2K's press release points to a story-driven shooter, that Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford pitched (ahem) as "a love letter to fans of the series, but also as an ideal entry point for new players to jump-in alone or cooperatively, on or off-line, in the latest and greatest installment of the definitive best-in-class benchmark shooter-looter." The announcement trailer follows.

I wish there were some games launching this year...

While it kind of sucks, at least it is only a 6 month exclusive. One year would be really bad.

I am grateful to have a large backlog of games.

Important question still remains valid and unanswered: online activity will be handled by steam or egs?

Money spoil people. Thats what you get, when such a trash like epic takes over, earns aLOT for short amount of time.

This is not about steam, don’t really care about it, besides, I prefer the industry being more GOG approach, with games being OWNED, not RENTED - it’s just makes me sick to see such an unfair competition. And even more sick knowing that all the earnings epics made due to fortnite garbage - an undeniable monument of human dull indolence.

Gamedev needs two things ASAP: some tough, iron-hand regulation, and new wave of talented people with lots of fresh ideas and breathtaking stories - tired of all these endless, donate and chineseRainbow infested, senseless time-killing online ant-heaps

Well, that's more interesting, since BL1&2 was a poster child for NVidia PhysX.

Regulation is starting to get fired up... we had the lootbox is gambling ruling in Belgium and there are more countries looking at it.

As for those talented people... they're there, but you need to dig deep, there is a huge world of indie devs out there doing cool things. Some of them hit more major releases as well.

Bullshit!

As a Borderlands fan and a store exclusives opponent, this really pisses me off.

I can't quite figure out what regulation would do for you. Would the regulation force devs to release games on every store? Publishers? Would that mean that Steam Valve has to release all of its games on competing stores? So I could buy half life on Origin, uPlay, GOG, and GASP Epic? If so, does that mean that any game released on GOG would be DRM free? At Launch or DRM for 6 months after launch? Or would GOG have to sell games with DRM and go against their values?

Yep, as long as you’re willing to look a little, there are literally scores of high quality indie developers out there making great product.

There are all kinds of games launching this year, both AAA or close to it and Indie. I’ve got at least 30 titles for this year alone in my Steam Wishlist and 4 or 5 new games coming this year on my GOG wishlist.

4 words: don't order, don't buy.

Bullshit!

I will just not play it for 6 months after release.

Bad decision IMO. All of these publishers should not be exclusive on certain distro platforms. Let the consumer decide what distribution service they want to use.

Look at it this way, we have as much choice as we do with our internet providers.

OMG:cry:. What have the gaming world come to. First metro exodus skips steam for epic crap, then anno 1800 and now borderlands 3. I dont like where this is going.

If this is a new trend we will see more of in the future, what i feel i will let this image speak for me.

You missed the other 5 or 6 game announcements in between also going to Epic.

Yeah i have missed that then and that dosent make me feel any better:cry::banghead:

So that is why I had nightmares tonight ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

As a huge Borderlands fan, i am going to skip this title. TPS was a bit of a let down to me anyway.
My money will be going to Rage 2 & Doom Eternal this year.

Won't those be on Bethesda launcher? Or are they going to Steam as well?

They knew a whole-year exclusive would piss ppl off so now they try 6 months, which still pisses ppl off.

This is cheating, all you have to do to make a hot news is putting "Epic" and "exclusive" on the same sentence :shadedshu:

On topic: the exclusive deal isn't gonna stop any time soon so everybody please sit back, relax, and enjoy the 1 year period
