So I am on the crossroad between these 2 CPUs and here is a picture of the CPU that is 2nd hand that bothers me about some strange details around the IHC and chip where they ''meet''. Is that big difference in performance and does it worth going for 2nd hand since 5800x3d used is the same price as 5950x brand new?

To answer the 2nd half of your question i don't see a problem around the heat spreader and the CPU. It looks to me like leftover TIM that the seller did not fully get off.

For gameing I would go with the 5800X3D but a brand new 5950x cheaper than a used cpu seems a bit odd - gues those 5800X3D has got a boost in the price as the last AM4 Hurray,

Well its 670 BGN(340 dollars) brand new in my country for 5950x and 630 BGN(315 dollars) for used 5800x3d since they are everywhere sold out or unavailable ,at least in my country :l

If you are going to game only id for for the X3D if not the 5950x
I am mainly gaming with browsing and youtube, facebook , socials etc.

But Im also staying on my AM4 Platform so I understand your upgrade path - with 5090 being vaporware and priced beyond sanity in Denmark - one might just wait for next gen AM6 platform and DDR6.

If the 5700X3D is still available at an ok price I'd go with that instead

That being said if this is for gaming 5800X3D 100% of the time the 5950X will never be faster at gaming.

Especially with your ram being pretty slow the vanilla 5000 series only shine with 3600/3800 CL14 ram and even then would get crushed by an X3D cpu with meh ram.

Well I'd go with 5950x (new) unless you're absolutely certain there's no issues with the (used) x3d chip!

Here in Bulgaria 5090 costs x0.7 from a kidney. 6700 Bulgarian Levas which is around 3400dollars.A kidney costs around 10 000 BGN (don't ask me where I know that)

My ram is 32GB 3600mhz ,and 5700x3d brand new is 500BGN (130 BGN cheaper than the second hand 5800x3D :D )

That's what I am concerned about. I can't test it when buying because I can't bring my whole pc and make the courier to wait.I can open and see if there are bended pins , cosmetic dmg etc but can't put it into my system and tests unfortuantely, but in the same time I want the maxed out gaming performance for my AM4 build :(

I know it's 3600 but CL18 is really slow regardless of Mhz

I'd go with that then they are only 5-8% apart so not worth the premium on top of being used.

x3d then. looks like thermal paste thats leftover. it always spreads out to the silver edge and falls of to the step you say. if not when you apply the cooler, then at the least when wiped clean. can you test it prior?

Nope . I can see if its in good condition .The courier policies doesn't allow to put someone else parts into your pc because you may damage them or do something to them. The sender gives me 3 days of cashback option. What temepratures should I expect with this CPU ? I have LS 520 WH DeepCool AiO and while gaming with my 5600x I hit max 50C during heavy gaming on 1440p on max settings on 22C room temperature what would be normal temperatures for 5800x3D ? So that when I buy It I will test for stability and temperatures but not sure what to expect from 5800x3D (I use MX-6 thermal paste)

Probably in the 70C range +/- 5C. That is in a game that really stresses it in most normal gaming scenarios 55-65C probably.

is the seller near you? can you goto his place and see it installed and tested? if not then take it, run it see its good, if not 3 days for cashback.

I use a spirit 140 air cooler on 5600x, I get 65 max. but with aio, I dont think youll hit 80 which is fine. just seach duckduckgo "normal temps 5800x3d"

youll get tons of answers for that chip.

Seller is in the capital of my country which is 250km away from me,I can't just go there for a test of some cpu :l And I have time to get my decision until tomorrow morrning (which is 10 15 hours from now) here is 23:00PM rn and the courier company opens at 9AM .Honestly I don't want to get popped with 630BGN for faulty cpu (because 630 BGN in our country are like 600 dollars in USA despite the fact that 630bgn are half of it in dollars but yeah, for us is like dollars) and yet I want the best for my AM4 platform. I will risk it and go for 2nd hand 5800x3d and will update here in 10 hours.Wish me luck ;] I still have time to change my mind but I dunno...5800x3d seems the best for gaming in AM4

I don't see why people are saying AM5 or 5950x. Any x3D will wipe the 5950x in games with enough cores for side stuff.

If mostly gaming 5800x3d I would lean toward that. Used CPU's like any other previously used parts carries some risk the seller is being honest with giving you an undamaged part so at least be sure the pins look in good condition before you buy.

I don't see why people are saying AM5 or 5950x. Any x3D will wipe the 5950x in games with enough cores for side stuff.
Isn't that somewhat limited though for non-high end GPU's? For example with a 4090 any X3D is a no brainer but if you only have a mid range card doesn't it become debatable if you're getting good value from the X3D part? I can't find it at the moment but I thought Hardware Unboxed did a video with different X3D chips and a mid-range GPU.

If mostly gaming 5800x3d I would lean toward that. Used CPU's like any other previously used parts carries some risk the seller is being honest with giving you an undamaged part so at least be sure the pins look in good condition before you buy.

Isn't that somewhat limited though for non-high end GPU's? For example with a 4090 any X3D is a no brainer but if you only have a mid range card doesn't it become debatable if you're getting good value from the X3D parts? I can't find it at the moment but I thought Hardware Unboxed did a video with different X3D chips and a mid-range GPU.
That's the only thing I can do with the option "view and test" provided by the courier - checking for bented pins and visual dmg on the chip.

I see this question a lot and I think most are missing the point of buying the better gaming cpu regardless if it's the much cheaper 5700X3D or the 5800X3D vs a 5950X

1. Higher headroom for future gpu upgrades.
2. Smoother gaming experience especially in unoptmized games.
3. Much better performance in simulation type games like flight simulator.

The 5950X is around 20% slower and in some games struggles to even hit 60fps on average it's fine but it still doesn't make sense to spend the same or more for it for a gaming build when two faster options for gaming exist in the same socket.

X3d even with mid-range will still benefit for the lows.

Ask yourself: "What do I spend the most time doing on my PC?"
If gaming, the 5800X3D. No question.
If 'work' or 'multimedia creation', the 5950X *might* be better choice.

If one's 'work' is not highly multi-threaded, the 5800X3D will be a better investment.
A. Historically, larger caches left older CPUs 'competent' for longer (Bigger Cache = Longer Legs)
B. The 5800X3D is *the* CPU to 'max out' AM4. Given years past to come, the 5800X3D will retain value better.
(esp. if 16+core CPUs have become commonplace, IMO)

That CPU on the photo looks like it's tampered with. The residue seems like solder or glue, less the paste. I'd avoid it if can't be sure 100% the 5800x3d is actually under the heatspreader, and that it actually works.
Also, if there's no any guarantee (buyer protection) involved, I really wouldn't. It looks sketchy AF.

That's what I thought first ,and that's why I asked this question about the condition
