Z170 and i7 6700 are still very capable for gaming, you can pair it up to RTX 3060 12gb and see no bottleneck, as for the 1660 super is a very capable 1080p gaming card and would fit nicely with the 6700

Any GPU you do get should be AMD because Nvidia cards have a higher driver overhead, which especially becomes a problem on older or lower end CPUs.
6700 is not older nor a lower end CPU, its just not the newest, which do not mean its not capable, look how long the i7 2600 lasted for folks who game on it.

AMD's Ryzen 1000 series are about equal with Intel 6000 level gaming performance wise so assuming you are comparing two equal performing AMD / Nvidia video cards, the AMD one would outperform the Nvidia card with your system simply because AMD cards have a built-in hardware scheduler where as Nvidia offloads that work to the CPU (which is actually an interesting point to be make as it may actually hide a small portion of their power consumption as well).
ok thanks. My CPU is Intel

Why that's funny? Production is up, the shortage will end eventually. Just saying don't drop $800 on a 1660

Not funny at all. Yes prices have rised . Maybe they will drop. But one of my friend thinks that it even will rise more.

Like mentioned already you should go for a radeon if you want to maximize your current system, it will be a near GPU generiation's worth of performance improvement in CPU limited titles.

Get the best card you can afford. Your processor is not that bad.

You can always upgrade your processor in the future if need be.

Viable AMD alternatives that would give a significant performance boost and should sit well with that 6700 would be the 5600XT or a 5700, both of which are faster than the 1660 Super, the rest have already been pretty much covered.

It's probably going to be a couple of years before prices get back to the way they were. Fabs are being built but they take a few years to be completed and come online.

Meanwhile availability is going to be non-existent except from scalpers at ridiculous prices.

I am sorry, I wasn't able to respond. I wrote that, because I had similar dilemma, but missed the low prices. Now I just sit and wait. But I didn't really see a budget from your side. The suggestions here vary from a second hand Vega64 to a brand new 5600XT. That's quite a swing and you don't seem to be alarmed by the huge gap or so it seems to me. :)
