Or when putting the card under a waterblock. It doesn't really matter whether it's an official cable or not, the Nvidia reddit has reports of both equally burning up with the 5090.
It's all fun and games until Nvidia denies your $2,500 card's warranty for user error or it happens just outside of warranty.
The connector is just trash.
Sorry to hear that, wonder if it will also start the same behaviour after some time on that adapter, or does it really don't like cables.Update: Even while using the 12v2x6 connector I still have coil whine and 16pin still goes down to sub 11.7 ... so I changed to the octopus cable aka 12v4x8 and now everything is stable at 12mv exactly and doesnt go below 11.8mv at 600w and this time coil whine is completely gone really annoying to have to worry about this on this day and age.
The absolute best results is using the 12v4x8 adapter that came with the card.
Yes the thermal pad is for the backplate side.

At least you tidied them up nicely but to be honest at that point Nvidia might as well just put 4x8 pins on the card. It's bullshit.
Does warranty apply after you mount a waterblock to it?

Wasn't there someone on TPU with melted bequiet cables? On my 5080 I needed 90 degrees cable as well, thankfully I have be quiet PSU and they sell that cable for their PSUs:

Not very pretty but so far no problems and I saw that 5080 can also burn.
Glad that your GPU still works!
I know that every cable can burn basically but well in case of warranty they cannot claim that I used wrong cable

Like I said any cable can melt, it's just a shitty connector. Let it melt, it's official cable of my PSU manufacturer, I'll warranty the shit out of it if it does melt.Wasn't there someone on TPU with melted bequiet cables?
As a electrical guy the variation in depth of the pins in that connector makes me feel ill thinking about plugging it into a multi thousand dollar component.
For reference I was programming $14,000.00 GPS receiver combos and made sure my cabling was perfect cause one oops and the receiver alone was 12K

That's only a pic from the web. Checked mine when it arrived they all seem pretty the same to me, no variation in depth on both sides.

Some of those issues might be unrelated to the replacement power cable.Further more.. my card is now able to pass timespy at 3100mhz+ core clocks... it wasnt able to do 113+ on afterburner before now it does 220+
AND the coil whine is almost completely gone with the ezdiyfab cable the coil whine was super loud!

I still wonder why they didn't adopt a std automotive type connector?
