Colorful launched its flagship GeForce GTX 980 based graphics card, the GTX 980 iGame. It should come as no surprise to anyone following the over-the-top engineering from this company, that the GTX 980 iGame comes with one of the meatiest cooling solutions, and one of the most muscular VRM solutions, a GTX 980 ever shipped with. The GTX 980 iGame ships with a non-reference design PCB by Colorful, which features pure silver traces, a gargantuan 14-phase VRM that draws power from two 8-pin PCIe power inputs, server-grade tantalum capacitors, high-grade DPAK MOSFETs, and high-current solid-chokes (which don't 'whine' under load).

Colorful GTX 980 iGame ships with dual-BIOS, the first one runs the card at 1127 MHz core, 1216 MHz GPU Boost, and 7.00 GHz memory. The second BIOS drives clocks up to 1178 MHz core, 1279 MHz GPU Boost, and 7.01 GHz memory. The two BIOSes can be toggled with a push-type switch. As always the factory-overclock isn't intended to make the most of the VRM and cooling, because that's what Colorful expects enthusiasts to have fun with. Moving on to the cooling solution, and you get a massive triple-slot compound aluminium fin-stack heatsink, which features three 100 mm fans. Display outputs include three DisplayPort 1.2, one HDMI 2.0, and one dual-link DVI. A solid metal back-plate with a dotted-mesh pattern dons the back. Colorful began shipping the card to select markets in APAC and EMEA regions. The company plans to launch an even more over-the-top card based on this PCB, called the GTX 980 iGame Kudan, later this month; and the GTX 970 iGame, which is essentially this card with a GTX 970 chip.

That is one tasty power phase setup. Also look at those outputs! Glorious. Waiting for the Kudan so it can be remembered for it's ridiculous over engineering.

This needs a paint set IMHO.

For so much additional power and cooling wich is available here could second BIOS easily worked at 1400Hz, 1500 bust, 8 Gh RAM . It would be good if it could use already existing units for water cooling with the GTX680 series ..:)

The only thing that would make that awesome power delivery even better is if there was a version of the classified tool for this card. Otherwise it would be kind of wasted outside of voltage modding.

The use of tantalum caps and the odd VRM layout makes this look like it has way more phases than it actually does. Though a 12+2 setup is still damn good.

Honestly never seen a PCB this beautiful, Amazing.

Never heard of the brand but that's is one sweet looking card

Wow, I remember colorful from lower end cards, but this is nice. @bogami I image the Kudan will be this card pushed to the limits.

Wow, now that is an awesome GTX 980! The potential their is very high and I expect to see some crazy overclocking results!

Whoa I totally forgot that card and cooler existed! That things was so huge I could barely imagine scenarios where putting that in a machine would be easily feasible!

....Child's Play:

What kind of case would you need to fit this so called Child's Play?

Something like mine I guess, Cooler Master HAF 912 but with some play with the internal cages arrangement.

I thought Newegg was getting some Colorful products in.....

what happened???

I have to ask - is there any reason for such a huge VRM? I thought that Nvidia strictly enforces that all cards have BIOS limited TDP, which holds back overclocking well before a weak VRM becomes an issue.

BIOS mods. Also power stability should increase overclocks per watt by a small amount.

I am a Chinese and I have used colorful 780ti before. pcb is exactly the same as this one. I don't know why that it can't be overclocked so much even the pcb is so nice.

Still pending, it seems nvidia would like protect domestic brand...

KaJi, it's good to see you.

after oversize cooler and oversize cards and all the bad design, at last the nice stuff
why dont they design their stuff like this before
