Well, really, the title says it all. Everyone buying a 9800GT will get the great and wonderful 3-way SLI technology, should they desire to run three graphics cards in one PC. While the 9800GT does run off of the G92 core, what really sets it apart to allow for three-way SLI is the second SLI connector on each card, and quite a few modifications to the G92 chip. The entire GeForce 9x00 series should be released by the middle of March.

Wow... 6 G92 cores... Just wow.

Thats pretty lame..

Bring in the 2k watt PSU's!! :rockout:

They are really lame lately.. There using the same core for there "next gen" stuff as there last gen.

Actually G92 is next-gen. G80 was last gen. Why they made some G92 SKUs 8000 series is beyond me. Personally I think they should have just started the 9000 series when the introduction of the G90 cores.

woooooooooooow g92 ... i mean i AM glad to have g92 knowing that its nVidia's next best thing... but wow. Talk about milking a really really old, dying cow... Whoever has an Ultra is probably pretty happy as it means their card is gonna be around for a while longer haha.

teh lame indeed.

I stand by the theory that the theory that the G92 is actually the G90 with the 0 crossed out and replaced with a 2, and the G90 is the G80 with the 8 crossed out and replaced with a 9. (this is of course untrue... or is it..!?!?!)

I think that basically adding a higher number to the card name makes people want to buy it while they don't know the cores.

G92 is the latest core why is that lame? You know the core that the only way an ati board could beat it was to use 2 cores

True... but a the top-end G80 core (the old one) beats the top-end g92 (the supposed new one) which is a bit like vista, you know?

#%#$! I have 8 days left on my step up, and I haven't even played a video game since December. That was a waste of an 8800GT and 300 bucks...

Step up to a GTX :)

I feel your pain my stepup runs out about the same time the 9800 is supposed to be released which means its not going to happen Evga knows how to play the game their Rma is good enough to keep me faithful. Hell I sent my old 680i back to them with a dead Squirrel electrocuted on one of my caps and they sent me another board.

The G92 isn't the top end G9X core, there should be a G90 core eventually, but I'm sure they are waiting to release that for the stock of G80s to run out.

My guess is the G90 will have a 512-bit bus, 3way SLI, ~256 Shaders, 64 Texture Units, and 24 ROPs. But that is just my guess. I am almost positive the G92 won't be the top end G9X series core.

from the rumors i have heard, the 9800GT/X was a g100 core... but i was wrong... meh whatever - milking I say!

Its great news when either ATI or Nvidia releases a new card. We all gain as end users in the end. The other company will brain storm to put out something better than the other guy.

WE WIN!!

But why oh why does news like this always turn into a pie throwing contest!!

I really want to update my card which is a 3850 but I refuse to upgrade to a G92, its not enough performance to call it an upgrade even, I want a new core dammit or I'm gonna buy a 4850 and go hybrid crossfire with that or a 9800 GTX

they are using the same cores used in the 8800 series in the 9800 series

wtf is that

why is it so bad there are more transistors than on the G80 and no telling whats been locked untill its unlocked lol, i say bring it Nvidia, show us your hidden stuff

whats this about Nv being lame for using their latest core again? ATI did the same thing, and no one bitched there.

EVERY generation, is a rehash of last gen. get over it.

People are probably afraid that the 9800GT will just be a 8800GT with 3-way SLI...
