My father has a 9900K, 1060 3GB, and Z390 Taichi, it seems decent. When I built his computer, I put only a single NVme, a 970 Evo 1TB. Don't know if it would have same issue, not going to try it.Thanks, figured I'd ask your long term opinion of what from memory was great until it wasn't. Pointing out the weakness in earlier NVMe implementation was very helpful.
Less sure, was already pretty unsure, about reinvesting into 300 series boards myself now.
Pretty much. Only I assembled an office machine that developed gaming pretensions instead of the other way around. All of those efficiency settings baked in will sure come in handy when it makes that transition to eking power out of the grid.
Back in September, I made the purchasing decision, and I did the 12900KS for $480 with EVGA Z690 Classified for $299. The 13700K is pretty much the same thing, and so my advice to you is go for it! The 13700K will be great. As far as the Z790 motherboard, I have no idea. You seem to be dead set on the 12700K, I am considering the 13700K myself. Wish I lived near a Microcenter though. However I too am considering ASRock this time for a MB. I've always been an ASUS fan, but they are just charging way too much now for anything with more than 4 SATA 3 ports. I'm looking at the ASRock Z790 PG Riptide.
For RAM, I went with Corsair Vengeance last time, but this time I'm looking at a G. Skill Trident Z5 DDR 5 6400 2x16GB kit. I want just the non RGB one. Corsair's prices are too high anymore.
GOD I miss EVGA GPUs, that is a very sad situation. I currently have their GTX 1080 SC, a real good card.
