in my xp, I am using i5 3570 non k at 4.2 ghz with Asus z77itx deluxe and savage ddr2.400ghz with Asus 1080ti strix oc.
This cpu has started with amd 7870 and i was thinking of buying gtx780 everyone say to me not to do it ... but I did and I didn't see any bottleneck... after 2 years I was thinking about 980ti ... everyone told me the same buy new cpu. I didn't.... 2 weeks ago I say hmm time to go on 7700k and new z270 there is no way my cpu can handle 1080ti... But i was on the store and I saw this beautiful gpu and bought it... The point is and after a lot of benchmarks I saw a big boost on all of my games I am playing at 4k 60fps Samsung ju7000 TV and recently I go to a much better LG Uktrawide Curved 3440x1440 60fps. Way better quality panel .

Some people will say that this cpu I very weak, and I can get that.... on more than 60 fps for people playing at 100fps or 144fps this Is true...
But from my understanding there are no 144hz ips monitors curved ultrawide so I don't get the point to have such a powerful GPU for playing on TN panels at 144fps and 1080p ...And let's say in future we get 4k ips 144hz curved 21:9 panel ... ok then if that happens then 1080ti couldnot handle max settings on this resolution.
So in my opinion if you want to render more than 100fps go with better cpu if 60fps is the max for you then 3570k it's ok.... I can make any tests you want on games that I have if that helps.

oh if that helps on firestrike graphics score I had 10.450 with gainward glh edition 780 ... I had 18.790 with palit extreme 980ti and now with Asus strix OC 1080ti i have 30.040 .... On games like witcher 3 max settings 3440x1440 with 980ti I had 40-45 fps and with 1080ti I have 70-75 fps.
All these with 3570 4.2ghz
