Whats next, the Sound Blaster Tree? lol

no, the next one will be for people who listen to metal, and it will be shaped like a lump of iron.

Lol!

$200 USD for only 6 hours of playtime? seems a bit short, IMO. also the fact they mention the battery pack as easily accesible means its easy to steal, and possibly not water/weatherproof.

How can anyone steal it? People think it's a rock.

it was in response to people using it for a business... it'd be obvious what it was, and people would feck with it. you cant lock it away somewhere cause every 6 hours someone has to go swap the batteries...

It sure has the option of ac in, i don't think they did something so stupid to not put ac in. Even thought 6 hours for a "supposed" fine speaker is good.

6 hours is terrible. music is something you leaving playing for hours at a time, not have to go swap a battery in every single speaker every 6 hours - there will be more than one of these used at a time, and they wont all go flat together...

Yeah I'd still rather drag out a big set of speakers than have singing rocks in my garden.

In comparison to other "rock speakers" on the market these are cheap. Take a look around. As someone who worked with custom A/V installations for years you would be surprised what the demand is (was) for these things. At least before the economy tanked anyway. We used to install these things (wired however) left and right and when installed properly (nice landscaping and blended in well) they really do rock. The only thing I would be worried about is the quality. I would have to see them in person.

and they want to swap the batteries every 6 hours/have the battery packs open for vandalism/theft?

6 hours is a lot of time sitting in the backyard and I'm sure you can buy extra batteries and a recharging cradle. Unless you have them sitting in the middle of your lawn most people won't notice them.

Its targeted at Rich Peoples Backyards, simple enough.

i have no far away speakers (i put them under my pergola) but i have wired lights, and no problem no need for wifi problems!!

Everyone's laughing but I was laughing for another reason all together. I sell the X-Fi wireless system at work (and PC speakers) but just the other day someone came in asking for... You guessed it; wireless outdoor speakers to use from his PC! "Like ones that look like rocks?" I asked. Bingo.

Now... they have them! I do think there are people who will want this but the wireless transmitter should be sold with this. It should be the entire package ready to go wireless.

Umm... rock on?

Sorry, I just had to make that pun.

If my rocks started singing to me, I'd be wondering what I took last night and where I can get some more.

WTF Creative? Really? Come on now! What a bunch of "rocks". :shadedshu

um, i could sorta see the use tho i can't imagine it sounding as good as any regular 200 speaker set/config out there. like probly below the Z-523's from logitech. could be wrong, but anything running off a battery can't have much oomph when it comes to speakers.

Well, if you ever had a ghettoblaster or something similar, you will find 6 hours is awesome xD

We're talking about of outdoor speakers with higher energy requeriments, not an ipod with small earbuds wich almost have no energy cost. That's why I said 6 hours for a nonsense like this it's fine.

ghettoblasters were portable. they were something you took with you when you moved around.

These are portable... but they cant be moved around with you easily, and they arent intended to be. so the 6 hours is terrible.

If it started to play electric ladyland, you know what you took then xD

Well, like I said before, I don't think this thing will only rely on batteries if the plan is to put in a place and forget it, I'm sure it will have ac in. If not, epic fail.

This new product = fail. I can a wired setup for less money than this, it will look real, sound good, and be weather proof.

No solar charging = FAIL. I can't imagine going into the garden to flip the thing up and pull the battery module all the time.

To keep the nice look, they could have a solar panel on a cable so you could put the panel on a wall a few metres away or whatever and that way have it big enough.
