Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-6400 2GB Kit

Nice review Infrared thanks. I gotta say, I have had many brands of memory from value to HyperX and OCZ and I bought Crucial for the first time about 2 months ago, this stuff I got is just 667Mhz stock @ 2.2V and I can get 1170 out of them at 2.35V, it's amazing, I only got the 667 at the time because they use identical chips to the 800Mhz but were cheaper.

Just a lil something for your viewing pleasure! The pic hardly does this memory justice but gives you a good idea about these Tracers! I absolutely love the blue glow "ground effects" LEDS that this has, looks great in a windowed case.

they do look pretty sweet indeed and as I told you I was going to get that 1gb dual channel set at TD since it's only $30 after MIR but I read the the tforce550 limits ram voltage at 2.2V and all the crucial ballistix are 2.2V stock so I didn't think I'd be able to push them very far
I opted to go with a these http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820211064 since they come at a nice low 1.8V stock  at least I think that's a good decision, do you?

Well right know im running the PC2 8500 @ 1100Mhz@5-5-5-15-2.05v I think they all have the same chips but I even got 1000Mhz@5-5-5-15-1.8v but there also good but I know nothing about them:o

Thanks for the Pic sovereign. I tried getting some like that, but the camera didn't like the bright LEDs .

i just bought this RAM, the 2GB package... but it seems that my memory timing isnt 4-4-4-12 and not running DDR2 800mhz, instead only run on 667Mhz.... checked with everest and cpu-z

even after setting the bios to run 800mhz, when check again with everest/cpu-z, it still detect as ddr2 667 only....

i use the new mobo from biostar, tforce 560 a2+... suppose the mobo support ddr2 800mhz

using the everest benchmark, the latency speed i only got about 55-58ns

Have you set the timings manually?

yes, but i cannot change CAS timing from the bios, the other timings can be change.. thus, i only can get 5-4-4-12... it is okay? stable or not like this timing??

the most weird thing is, even i set the bios to run the ram in 800mhz.. everest/cpu-z still shows ddr2 667 only...

i have google for bios update, but no luck to found any... any suggestion??

But what does CPU-Z say the speed is if you set to 800Mhz? If you cannot get the CAS below 5 then your just going to have to overclock the memory speed to get the most out of them.

:( I just looked at the benchmarks for this, for some time now I've been wondering why this memory has been performing poorly for me. Just look at these pitiful results!

Check in CPU-Z that there in Dual Channel, what slots do you have them in ?

Yeah, sorry, they're both in dual channel as reported by BIOS and CPU-Z. I put a stick in each of the white slots, would it be worth it to try the black?

Your memory read score seems about normal but I do believe your write and latency scores are nowhere near where they should be. With my sticks @ near stock, I get nearly 9k MB/s write and around 48 ns Latency and thats probably off a bit too considering I have rather dated hardware.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to try your sticks in the other memory slots although I don't see it correcting the problem. Again, it couldn't hurt things to try at least!

its worth a try also can you post some pics of Everest

Sure.

It looks like the other slots actually made them slower! That hurts.

Hi guys I have been watching this particular thread for some time now. In fact it was Infrareds review that convince me to get a pair of these. I have the crucial ballistix tracers DDR2 PC6400. I am clocking well at 3,03 ghz with my system but I cannot get any more out of the memory. Been trying for some time now. Both my older ASUS P5B Vanilla and now my Gigabyte P35 DS4 get no more than 3,03 with this ram. Whats the issue? I soon feel like throwing in the towel for a nice pair of OCZs.

MY specs..

Antec P180B SPCR, C2D E6320 4mb cache@ 3.03, AC Freezer 7, Gigabyte P35-DS4, 2gig Crucial ballistix tracer 800mhz, Zalman ZM460B 460W, BFG 8800GTS 640mb@600/1059

and some pics

Welcome to TPU :toast:

I think the mem is only at 2.0v stock is at 2.2v cuz if im right stock is 1.8v + 0.2v in the bios gives you 2.0v

and did you set Refresh to ACT Delay to 0 ?

and the NB might need some more volts (G) MCH try the 2nd lowest and see if that help get more

thanx will try.
Does anyone the best timings for these memory modules and my GA P35 DS4 board?

4-4-4-12 2.2v for 950Mhz and under and 950Mhz+ 5-5-5-15 2.2v

Do you guys think that getting a 1GBx2 kit of 1066 tracers will compliment new hardware coming out soon from AMD and Intel? Or is it more reasonable to just get a ddr2 800? Keep in mind, I plan on running my new rig at stock.

If your running it at stock then you should be looking at DDR2 with very tight timings for best performance, for example, the GSkill HK series is cheaper than the tracers and will run at DDR800 at 3-4-3-4 2t (maybe with 1T with enuff volts), the tracers wont match those latencies methinks.

I can get mine at 800Mhz @ 3-4-3-4-3-20 2.2v :p

i got the same ram :rockout:
Mines serial numbers arent far off those.. mines are 81XXXXXXX, and 82XXXXXXX. But i love mine id buy a 2nd set to add onto my current ones if i was in need of 4gb ram... lol

i just dont get why it reads it as "ddr2-800(400mhz)"

I think cuz it Supports high performance Dual Channel DDR2 800 memory so thats the highest it would read, you know what I mean ?

I can do those latencies with 2.3v on my normal Ballistix. Note that my board doesn't allow tRAS settings below 5.
