Specialists with water-cooling, Danger Den is ready with its first offering for NVIDIA's GeForce 400 series. The block provides full-coverage to the obverse side of the PCB, cooling all critical areas such as the GPU, the memory chips, and the VRM area. Designed for the GeForce GTX 480, it is expected to come in three variants based on materials: 1. all-copper (pictured below), 2. nickel top and copper base, and 3. nickel-top and nickel-plated copper base. The top of the block will have mirror-finish. There is no word on an acrylic-top variant. The three are expected to be priced in the US $140-$150 range. Danger Den will release these by the end of the week, so users could have one ready by the time their GeForce GTX 480 arrives.

Man, not a moment too soon. These should come stock on GTX 480's.

did I read that right? finally got rid of the junk acrylic tops..

Why dont they get better picts of the bases ??????

If they are going through he trouble/cost of metal tops than they should have incorporated fins into it..

btarunr, who was the company that was selling the H20 tops with the cards from the factory? (that was a good looking cooler)

oh,it didn't take too long to make one of these...maybe nvidia will make those the stock cooler, god knows the GTX480 could burn the entire planet if unchecked

Finally DD! Those blocks look professional and less like dog sh!t

It was EVGA and its HydroCopper GTX 470/480 FTW cards. Swiftech made blocks for it.

Thanks, Now THAT was a dam good looking cooler..

I dont think there is a chance but it would be cool to see a comparison of the Swifty and the DD..

I'm sure somebody will post one somewhere.

Finally DD! Those blocks look professional and less like dog sh!t

Thanks, but...I really had nothing to do with it. :D

^^ lol

These will sell like hot cakes, since air cooling is no longer sufficient. : sarcastic face :

Koolance 480/470 blocks will be out on the 8th. No pic's or price yet(around $100). I'll submit this as news once everything is final.

I doubt liquid cooling will do much for longevity of these cards...I don't think the card will see below 70 or 80C even with a triple fan radiator set-up. Waste of money and time. Better to wait for the predictable "revision"...GTX485 perhaps? This initial launch of Fermi is nVidia's Edsel. lol

a firetruck to put out the flames :)

Danger Den and other full cover block manufacturers waste money on R&D for a card that likely won't sell as good as Nvidia would ever hope yet won't even consider making a full cover block for a more mainstream card like my 5750's. Go figure... :shadedshu

Mainstream =\= Watercooling. That's why.

Evga claims their factory watercooled card loads to 49C, compared to 95C for their air cooled card in tests. No word on setup used tho.

Either way, the price of this block just goes to prove that the Evga factory watercooled 480 is not overpriced at $650. It would be my choice if I were going Fermi.

gonna have to customise up a OCZ cryo unit to cool these mofos to upto -30'c

Now 49C, hell, even 65C would be decent if that were the temps at full load and say an ambient of 71 to 73F and for a few , maybe even 3 hrs. Just my opinion, but me thinks that you'd have to give these cards their own loop, I couldn't imagine hooking this card with my cpu and NB, wow. It would steam like an old pressure cooker....slight exageration but you get the pic...lol and I agree the price is pretty much on the money

at last.. looks better than all the previous DD ugly 'curvy' blocks.

Who you callin' ugly! Why do people keep talking about me in this thread!?!?

Nice, but IF i were to buy a fermi card i would fit a universal block, seeing as you can remove the gpu cooler and leave the ram/vrm coolers on
