Danger Den has been making water cooling blocks for ages. Now the company has decided to expand its portfolio and has started offering cases. Danger Den offers acrylic cases, with optional UV panels. Today, we take a look at the Torture rack - a case that is supposed to let you stress components to the max, provide adequate cooling for them, and make it easy for you to change over stuff quickly and efficiently.

i like the name of it :)

To be honest, i like the concept, and ooh, pretty.

But $234 for a few panels of laser cut acrylic, and a few peons worth of electronics?

You're kidding me... right?

For that price, you could easily purchase the materials, lay out a design, and pass it off to a proper shop. And yes, you said that for that price you could get yourself a full tower lian-li, or a Mozart TX, but what about a (rare, yeah) second hand MountainMods?

Finally - this is technically *not* a case. It is a test bench. And as with PC Test Station, or whatever, what makes this superior to three wooden boards screwed together, sitting on my desk, with items below?

Not much, considering a 4' by 10' piece of MDF is about $18, and friends are often to have things like circular saws and plunge routers, to compliment your drills, and few other bobs...

hey D.O.S, how does it manage a 9.5 bro with that many things wrong with it... I mean yeah it look pretty sick but 9.5 is almost friggin perfect.

I woulda gone around the 8 - 8.5 mark myself.

Still a good review tho mate, has some valuable info for someone lookin at grabbin 1.

Have you hand made a case?

Much easier said than done.

btw, MDF is pretty shitty computer case ;)

I like this. It takes the concept of an acrylic case and modifys it to fit current high end enthusiast needs- radiators/phase.

So what if you can get a mozart TX or w/e for a similar price.. this fits a need. Something with a decent layout that doesn't require extensive cutting and drilling to fit a radiator. Just having a spot for the radiator like that is AWESOME.

Hi,

while it is true that there are several things wrong with it, most of them can be fixed quite easily - say the issue with HDD mounting - all you have to do there is get yourself a HDD rack or some sort of enclosure. Passing your SATA cables, as well as power, outside of the case is no problem (actually, if you don't plan a second WC loop, you CAN fit the HDD rack from the Stacker inside the case). PSU mounting - if you're comfortable with a dremel, you can cut away a little bit of the acrylic at the bottom, so the PSU fits. Front USB ports - get yourself a switch enclosure, take out the switch, and put in some USB ports.

In my opinion, the faults are just in minor details.

How much is it to get it engraved?

Hi, I think its a very specific thing - it depends on how complex the thing you want engraved is, how large you want it, etc.

To be honest, I'm not sure how much the Techpowerup logo cost.

Does anyone know the thickness of the acrylic panels on this rack? 8mm? 10mm? 12mm?

Hi, I saw that you were selling the Danger Den Torture Rack, is it still available for sale?
