Dell, which makes some of the best computer monitors around (though they really don't tend to be the most cost-effective), has announced a new addition to its line of monitors. The UP2718Q is a 27" monitor which boast of 4K (3140* 2160) resolution, and supports the UHD Alliance's HDR10 standard. Its peak brightness of 1,000 nits ensures its adherence to the HDR standards (which backs up to 400 nits brightness on non-HDR material), while the 100% Adobe RGB, 100% sRGB, 100% REC 709, 97.7% DCI-P3, and 76.9% REC2020 color coverage ensures this is a panel best used by professionals who need extreme color accuracy. Connectivity wise, we find 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 1x mini-DisplayPort 1.4, 2x HDMI 2.0a ports, 2x USB 3.0 ports, and a hub of 4x USB 3.0 ports, two of which are capable of charging.

This seems to be a great monitor for those of you who do some professional, color-sensitive work. However, your inner gamer will best stand at bay from this offering. I thought the specs were quite interesting - the 27" screen promises to deliver exceptional pixel density, for one - but the pricing and lack of any kind of VRR technology really do make this one to avoid. Its price-tag will be an eye-watering, wallet-hiding inducing $1,999. Did I mention the pricing?

Am I right in saying that this is the 1st DisplayPort 1.4 monitor on the market?!
If so, finally!!!

No offence, but Dell in my eyes = expensive, but poor quality products. They just die due to bad capacitors.
Also no HDR10+, no buy.
Also what retard makes 27" 4K display? 40" is minimum for 4K.
Also no adaptive sync. Very no buy.

I agree with 90% of what you've said. But Dell can make quality products ,YMMV.

Wow, $2000 for 60hz no adaptive sync? Seriously, Dell? I'd rather wait for that ASUS or Acer offering all of the stuff for the same price adding 144Hz G-Sync to the table.

Shame Dell's been so slow on the uptake when it comes to adaptive sync. It's the main requirement to justify upgrading from my current 24" (the latest in a long line of Dells).

I thought 4K was 3840x2160...

In my experience Dell screens have been the best, shure, the original WFP 2407 i had had some problems. But with the excellent customer service Ultra sharps has i ended up with a WFP 3008 in 2009, and that one sill works after 8 years of daily use.

Still, agree that its should have adaptive sync for consumer use, but this is NOT a consumer oriented screen, but one for picture and video editing and maybe CAD work.

27" screen, mkay, with HDR, but in 2017 for 1999$, are you kidding me...
