Had the same issue many many years ago.
Since then I heat the CPU before shut down and quickly release the mechanism and give the cooler a little twist left-right so paste breaks, before I attempt to remove it.

CPU getting warmer after GPU repaste could indicate that more heat has dumped into the case from the GPU. Prior to new past contact was poor.
Now more heat is going of the GPU and the GPU itself sustains higher, near max power consumption.

The GPU loses the same amount of heat no matter how bad the thermal paste, although the GPU temperature suffers.

This is not quite true as semiconductors are more efficient when hot; reason some bridge rectifiers are purposefully not given a heatsink.

The GPU can sustain near high max power longer when bad contact is fixed.
So overall heat into the case increases
That card was throttling by max temp. It doesn’t any more.

And I don’t know if that comment about heat and efficiency was for me, but I never said or imply anything about it.

It looks like the tim layer is substantially thicker on the other side - go in from there. Carefully cut in a bit at a time. Once you are about halfway through, you should be able to pull it free by pulling on the side you cut into.

Either that, or use a tool that can get between the cooler and the edge of the heatspreader that secures it to the cpu, and then pull it free. Pulling on the edge of the headspreader should allow you to use some force without damaging the cpu.

Are you sure you did an even mount, and spread the TIM properly ?

Remount it, reapply tim (where you spread a thin layer across the entire cpu, and then place a pea sized dot in the middle), and make sure you tighten the screws evenly - do one twist on each screw at a time, until they are all tightened.

Late to thread, do you use a third party software to control your gpu fans? If not you should, 2000 series cards had terrible default fan profiles, my 2080 ramps up to full speed during gaming every few seconds and goes back to quiet if I don't use a custom profile.

Idk if gigabyte have their own software to control card but if they don't you can use msi afterburner. Make a fan profile that starts at 30% @ 40 degrees or just keep it at 30-40%

No offense, but that is kinda a /facepalm comment... fanspeed and behavior is NOT related to gpu generations, but rather the fans used by AIBs and the fanprofiles they give them... and it will differ alot from AIB to AIB...
